PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President and Mrs. Bush attended Sunday services at St. John's today as several important news items received little notice in the media.
The Supreme Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution gave a horrific speech today. Using both U.S. domestic and international Leftist polls and other bile, Khamenei essentially claimed that President Bush is the world's #1 pariah (my paraphrasing of the gist of what he said). In a world increasingly interconnected electronically, biased polls and media reports driven by the domestic Left (but aided by the always disgruntled far right) are becoming exremely dangerous to U.S. security and interests. Here's an article from Iranian media:
Supreme Leader: Bush most unpopular figure in the worldSupreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said here on Sunday that US President George W Bush is the most unpopular figure in the world.
"Your president, Mr Bush, faces protests and public wrath wherever he steps on earth. In Latin America governments have come to power on anti-US slogans. Presidential hopefuls in Latin America chant anti-US slogans and people vote for them. Isn't this the climax of hatred?" asked the Supreme Leader.
In contrast, the Supreme Leader referred to the recent visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Indonesia and to visits of former Iranian presidents to various countries in which these officials received rupturous welcomes from their host countries' officials and constituents.
"Why can't you realize the implications and refuse to acknowledge them?" asked the Leader.
He said the situation in Iran today compared with that in the United States points to Iranians being far better off than their American counterparts.
Comparing the Iranian and US presidents, the Supreme Leader said that the government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is one of the most popular since the constitutional movement in the country a century ago while President George W Bush, citing opinion polls, is one of most detested presidents in US history.
The Supreme Leader's remarks were part of his address to a huge crowd of people gathered at the late Imam Khomeini's mausoleum in southern Tehran to mark the 17th anniversary of the departure of the Founder of the Islamic Republic.
Fortunately, both on a personal and national level, President Bush and the American people still have staunch friends. The President called Australian Prime Minister John Howard last night to discuss Iran and other issues related to Islamic terrorism.
Iran on the minds of Howard and Bush
By 7News, Sunday June 4, 05:35 PMPrime Minister John Howard has taken a late night phone call from the US President George W Bush to discuss action against Iran.
Mr Bush told Mr Howard about the diplomatic steps he was taking to stop Iran developing nuclear weapons.
The Iranian President has indicated he was prepared to negotiate - as long as the western world stops threatening his country.
Mr Howard and Mr Bush also discussed Iraq and the unrest in East Timor.
Given the complete impudence with which Khamenei can label our President "the most unpopular figure in the world," and the seditious way our domestic Left feeds such perceptions, this news item should come as no surprise.
Study: America's Support of Liberal Democracies Under Attack
By ELI LAKE - Staff Reporter of the Sun
June 2, 2006WASHINGTON - America's ability to promote liberal democrats abroad is coming under attack by authoritarian and semi-authoritarian regimes all over the world, according to a new study from the National Endowment for Democracy to be released next week.
The assessment from the organization outlines a threat to the pledges of President Bush, who in his 2005 inaugural address said the spread of freedom would be a top priority for his second administration.

On a somewhat lighter note, despite everthing else being thrown at him from all sides, the President has found a way to confound the Left yet again. It seems The Sunday Times (London) is puzzled by the fact that the President's new Treasury Secretary is also a birdwatcher.
Bush's buddy, the birdwatcher
The Sunday Times, June 04, 2006
Sarah Baxter in WashingtonFOR greens used to bashing President George W Bush, it is a puzzle. Last week the hater of the Kyoto treaty and former oilman gave the key job of treasury secretary to one of the most environmentally friendly multi-millionaires on the planet. Henry Hank Paulson is a leading name on Wall Street, where he accumulated £370m as chairman and chief executive of Goldman Sachs, the investment bank. But he is also known as an ardent advocate of nature conservation and the prevention of global warming. Hes way too green for some folk, said a former Bush administration official.
Environmentalists are cheering his nomination. Its very encouraging to have somebody at that level in the financial world who understands that promoting the economy and the environment go hand in hand, said Dave Willett of the Sierra Club, a conservation group.
Simon: 'I won't bash Bush'
Sunday June 4, 09:30 AM By WENNPaul Simon refuses to write protest songs targetting US President George W Bush, because he sees politics as a pointless "charade".
The Graceland star addresses America's concerns after the September 11th attacks in his track Wartime Prayers on new album Surprise.
But he had no intention of making a "statement" against Bush, he was simply singing from the heart.
He says, "I am anti-political - opposed to the whole game, not just Bush and the Republicans.
"The whole political process is deeply hypocritical and untruthful.
"It's just a charade. So I don't see any reason for taking the prevailing political point of view and writing a song about that.
"People who agree with you, they don't need it. People who disagree with you will just turn their ears off."
Pinging you to the Sunday Dose.

Press Secretary Tony Snow said the two leaders will discuss the Darfur region of Sudan, where nearly 200,000 people have died from fighting or related hunger and disease in a three-year-old ethnic conflict. The African Union has a 7,300-member peacekeeping force in Darfur and is mediating the conflict._ Tuesday & Wednesday: President Bush travels to Omaha, Nebraska on Tuesday. He will arrive at Eppley Airfield Tuesday evening and will stay overnight at an undisclosed location. Wednesday morning, he will tour the Juan Diego Center and then will speak at Cristo Rey School. The President will meet with Mayor Betty Flores, making him the first president since Richard Nixon to tour the city (9/22/72). Flores said she was told of a scheduled visit, but could not identify the source for the information or the date of his arrival.
"He went to other border areas, and I'm assuming he'll be following up on the border initiatives he proposed to Congress," she said.
Flores said she will meet with the president and discuss several topics with him, but she also cautioned that the meeting details are still undetermined. "Right now we're just preparing," she said.

Thanks for the Dose today Wolfstar.
Thank you for the pictures of the First Lady and the President attending church together. I think I might see if I can find a way to e-mail those to Air America.
