Hmm. And you think being up against potentially nuclear-armed, well-financed, pitied and pampered freelancers who are willing to go out with a bang is easier? The challenges are different to be sure, but this is certainly NOT easier.

The Soviets and their clients were capable of destroying the entire world many times over. OBL & Friends simply are not on that scale. Nor can they overrun entire nations. They do not have intel and diplomatic power.

There is no evidence that OBL has nukes or will acquire them. I think we would have heard the Big Bang long before now had they managed to secure nukes. Same with effective chemical munitions and biowarfare.

Given how insecure our borders are at present and the vastly increased traffic into America from the south, it indicates that Bush & Co doesn't think there's any threat from OBL with WMD. Either that or they just don't care at all. I'm pointing out here that there is no indication that anyone in Washington believes OBL had or has WMD. If that were so, we'd see a lot more security at all entry points, airports, ports, etc.
