Until 9/11 no one really paid a lot of attention of radical Islam or Islam itself.
There are many facets on which a President is judged. WOT is one and one of my greatest fears is that someone is going to sneak a nuclear weapon across one of out porous borders.

Different time, different priorities. If you remember the bombing of Libya, you know that Reagan hardly failed to stand up to terrorism. After all, he was swept into office, in part, on the basis of Carter's weak response to Iranian terrorists. The terrorists knew where Reagan stood - that's why the hostages were released on inauguration day.
