Bush is the Next Reagan
Jun 4, 2006
Slater Bakhtavar - Persian Journal
The same people who heavily criticized former President Reagan for his tough stance against Communism and for his aggressive push for democracy in Eastern Europe are now attacking President Bush for his tough stance against fundamentalism and his aggressive push for democracy in the Middle East.
-They argued then that Communism would never fall - it did They argue now that Islamic Fundamentalism will never fall - it will
-They argued then that the Soviet Union is too strong - it wasn't
They argue now that the insurgency is too strong - it isn't
-They argued that Reagans vision of democracy in East Europe would never work - it did
They argue now that Bushs vision of democracy for the mid-east would never work - it will
They argued then that Reagans evil empire speech was a failure - it wasn't
They argue now that Bushs axis of evil speech is a failure - it won't be
-They argued then that former soviet bloc countries wouldn't embrace democracy - they did
They argue now that middle east countries would never embrace democracy - they will
-They argued then that Eastern Europeans nations would never be our allies - they are
They argue now that middle eastern countries will never be our allies - they will be
-They argued then that people without God could never embrace democracy - they did
They argue now that Muslims will never embrace democracy - they will
-They argued then that President Reagan was unrealistic - he wasn't
They argue now that President Bush is unrealistic - he'll prove he isn't
-They argued then democracy isn't universal to former Communists - it was
They argue now democracy isn't universal to Middle Easterners - it will be
-They argued then that funding of pro-democracy groups in Eastern European countries won't work - it did
They argue now that funding of pro-democracy groups won't work in the Middle East - it will
The same exact critcism was directed at Reagan. The future will be the judge of President Bush and my guess is that he will be judged as the Great Liberator of the Middle East.
It's been fun, but I too need to get to bed.
I want one more nomination to the Supreme Court.
If we lose a Senate seat we won't get another one confirmed.
And those lower court appointments are tough, too. But we just got Kavanaugh appointed and the libs hated him. Never have happened if George hadn't risked it all campaigning for the Senate in 02.
He goes out there all the time talking up things like Social Security reform and tax cuts and hanging tough in Iraq, which is one of the main battles in the WOT. Nobody seems to notice he works hard trying to get through the DBM filter.
Good night, sweet dreams.
Oh...so the FBI has made some "house calls" on the LePers, have they? I didn't know that.
nighty night!
:-)
We took majority because of the pushing of Hellary care, the don't ask do tell and mostly because of the hight tax increase in 40 years that Clinton push throw .. it sure ticked off the Seniors
Yes, by '94, Clinton was failing for all of the above reasons. And then the Clinton political machine kept quiet all during the '94 Contract with America campaign. Their counter attack began in '95 and Newt and his Contract were the targets.
The Clintons have never been good at anything except counterpunching as Newt would later say. And Newt became Clinton's foil starting in '95.
I can't find my Newt quote where IIRC Newt calls Clinton a great counter puncher, but here's a quote from his former press secretary Tony Blankley;
But, but, who's the next Bush?
Only FR's perpetual UNAPPEASEABLES refuse to notice what President Bush has done and still does. These momurdotes cavil and refuse to acknowledge anything that HAS been done, which is good. Some see a glass as 1/2 full, some see it as 1/2 empty; they see NO glass at all.
Now I'm really confuuuuused! I thought that Reagan was the next Teddy Roosevelt, therefore Reagan couldn't have been Reagan, therefore Bush can't be the next Reagan!
Good night.....it's been fun!
people with their heads stuck in the sand will make it easier for the muzzies to chop off - the WOT is a world wide war - very real, very dangerous and wont be over quick.
It's a different kind of war, a different kind of enemy - but just as dangerous.
Nighty night..................:-)
He did not respond when 240 Marines were killed in Lebanon. That is a fact.
He hardly "stood up to terrorism" by bombing a few of Khadaffi's tents.
Our indomitable President carries the weight of the world on his shoulders .. and the disposition and optimism that can only come from deep and abiding faith, character, and what has to be masterful excellence at compartmentalization. True leaders have almost supernatural focus, are in command of their emotions and in sync with their playing field. They are glorious to watch make decisions and go through their paces. I've been blessed to know a few such gifted tycoons who were awesome to observe, and I was always spellbound and awestruck at their talents. President Bush is a true leader.
Perfectly consistent:
For the Dem's - since the dead vote in such great numbers, should they not also pay taxes?

Thank you, Yoda.
Bizarre answer.
So then by your lack of an understandable answer you are saying that Newt accomplished nothing after '95.
Say hello to Travis McGee and Boot Hill for me.
