Bush is the Next Reagan
Jun 4, 2006
Slater Bakhtavar - Persian Journal
The same people who heavily criticized former President Reagan for his tough stance against Communism and for his aggressive push for democracy in Eastern Europe are now attacking President Bush for his tough stance against fundamentalism and his aggressive push for democracy in the Middle East.
-They argued then that Communism would never fall - it did They argue now that Islamic Fundamentalism will never fall - it will
-They argued then that the Soviet Union is too strong - it wasn't
They argue now that the insurgency is too strong - it isn't
-They argued that Reagans vision of democracy in East Europe would never work - it did
They argue now that Bushs vision of democracy for the mid-east would never work - it will
They argued then that Reagans evil empire speech was a failure - it wasn't
They argue now that Bushs axis of evil speech is a failure - it won't be
-They argued then that former soviet bloc countries wouldn't embrace democracy - they did
They argue now that middle east countries would never embrace democracy - they will
-They argued then that Eastern Europeans nations would never be our allies - they are
They argue now that middle eastern countries will never be our allies - they will be
-They argued then that people without God could never embrace democracy - they did
They argue now that Muslims will never embrace democracy - they will
-They argued then that President Reagan was unrealistic - he wasn't
They argue now that President Bush is unrealistic - he'll prove he isn't
-They argued then democracy isn't universal to former Communists - it was
They argue now democracy isn't universal to Middle Easterners - it will be
-They argued then that funding of pro-democracy groups in Eastern European countries won't work - it did
They argue now that funding of pro-democracy groups won't work in the Middle East - it will
The same exact critcism was directed at Reagan. The future will be the judge of President Bush and my guess is that he will be judged as the Great Liberator of the Middle East.
Two things I think conservatives should do for the next couple of years:
A) Continue to be the true loyal opposition, since the Dems quit being any such thing long ago. Oppose when necessary, vigorously, and support when possible, especially against the phony attacks of the Left.
B) Continue to work our hearts out to elect real conservatives at every level of governance.
I recommend we not talk with him then.
Then they are not thinking we have to support them, because they need a few years to get back on their feet. Otherwise they will become failed states.. and will become terror exporting states.
I don't think those FR are real ones, they are moles, used by DU to divide and conquer!!! The people to love President Bush will never fall!!!
I don't think Bush is playing any games...
I think that since the first year of his presidency, unlike Clinton, he hasn't taken his eye off the enemy.
I whole hearty agree with B. A forces me to pick and choose.
Oh, lord....now we are deciding the worth of a POTUS by a speech???
get real.
that was made up, President Bush NEVER said that...but like all libs, the truth is something they don't deal in.
"You are judging by what you THINK might happen..wow, do you walk on water too???? Bet alot of people, probably your relatives thought that about post war Germany and Japan, thank goodness a majority didn't listen then and pray to the good Lord, they won't now"
Back off on the personal attacks. I try to provide rational dialog only. If you don't like my opinions then by all means disagree, but do not cast aspersions on my relatives.
If you have a different opinion, please express it rationally, and I will do the same.
It is not a stretch to say that Iraq and Afghanistan democracies, without the spigot of American taxpayer money fully opened, are in jeopardy.
tough, I love this man, who LOVES his country and will do anything to keep it safe.
Agreed, the WOT is my main focus... Judicial is my standby... and taxes make me hopeful
Go, Debbie!!
I'll buy anything you write. I love your factual posts.
HERE"S A FACT. THE MOST IMPORTANT FACT OF ALL.
Reagan won his GREAT BATTLES AGAINST A VERY POWERFUL Democratic House and A Democratic Senate. Led by Tip O'Neil.
Bush and the GOP CONTROL All Three Branches The Executive, HOUSE AND SENATE.
Which makes Reagans accopmlishments all the more amazing.
THATS A FACT. U Get It!
Thanks for posting. I needed the reminder.
Once again, we get a poster that says that Bush doesn't compare favorably because of his border policies..
BUT, you praise Reagan....WHO STARTED THIS WHOLE FIASCO>
I agree Afganistan will be a disaster if we remove our funding. But ask Isreal (3 billion) and Egypt (1 billion) how they are doing?
Some of the decisions of a sovereign citizen are tough ones. The reason America became what is was is because men and women were courageous enough to make those hard calls.
Self-governement dictates that you keep your representatives in check.
But I do pray, for the President and the future of America.........and I'm not even close to being the only Christian to understand the spiritual warfare going on in this country........and on this forum.
Perhaps you need to peel your spiritual blinders off. Or will you not do that, because you won't be able to keep mocking people like me who have a burden for the spiritual future of America, if you do?
