My son built a spud-gun several years ago. He and his buddy had great fun with it - launching potatoes down at the local ballfield.

What a great mother you are....all moms and dads should encourage similar activities with their sons (and daughters too if they are so inclined).  America would be a far better place, populated by people who grew up learning ballistics firsthand rather than learning Marxism in the Government schools.  Full Steam Ahead and Cheers to you!

These don't work well. Take my word for it.

ROTFLMAO!!  (making note to avoid Ruffles when designing next vegetable or root-oriented gun accessory)

Thanks very much for the link...I didn't need to sign in and it worked fine   :-)

It illustrates another great example of the tremendous resourcefulness of America's Finest.   May God Bless our Military!

I remember with great fondness stories told me by vets about the field mods they did to a Browning .50....they turned it into a stunningly effective sniper rifle.  Hits from well over a thousand yards....the Viet Cong didn't know what hit them.  Thank you for your service!

My brother and I tried this when we were teenagers - put a potato on the end of his 12 ga & fired it on the back patio. Yes, I know, very stupid. We didn't even drill a hole in the potato, just jammed it on the muzzle! It didn't work either - the report was just as loud if not louder, and then we had to clean mashed potato off ourselves, the house, the patio, the gun, everywhere.

At best, it is a one-shot solution. At worst, with the wrong gun, it might blow up on you.

In any case, I cant see it being the least big accurate, unless you are at bad breath distances.
