While it's easier to spread HIV between gay men, most of the victims of the disease in Africa are heterosexual.

Um, why has the population of Africa continued to expand on the same 3% exponential as before, since the arrival of this disease?

The number of deaths ascribed to aids outside of Africa (where the definition is different) has fallen to 800,000 in the last year.

The statistic I'd like to see is what portion of deaths outside Africa, ascribed to aids, have any immediate cause of final illness other than TB. Preferably with a whole time series.

I've no doubt that infection with the HIV virus is endemic in Africa. What I doubt is any substantially increased mortality, rather than redefinition of causes of death.

".....most of the victims of the disease in Africa are heterosexual."

Michael Fumento predicted the African spread of AIDS in detail in his 1989 The Myth of Heterosexual AIDS, one of the most censored books of modern times. It's still available, but not many local libraies or bookstores have it.

This might interest some people.

The article is titled African AIDS: A Phantom Epidemic? it is written by By Drs. Michael A. Glueck & Robert J. Cihak and appeared in the Jewish World Review Nov. 18, 2005. It reviews the criteria WHO established for diagnosing AIDs in Africa. www.jewishworldreview.com/1105/medicine.men111805.php3
(article URL)

I have included this excerpt : …It's all done on "points" defined at the "AIDS in Africa" meeting in Bangui in October 1985. This meeting resulted in a U.N. document (Bangui1985report.pdf) that described Africa as a continent "where adequate laboratory facilities are often lacking." Because of this lack, the meeting participants concluded that AIDS in Africa could be diagnosed without a blood test by scoring 12 points out of a possible total of 50, based on symptoms and signs alone.

People having the first three (10 percent weight lost, protracted asthenia [weakness] and repeated attacks of fever for more than a month) have already racked up a score of 11. A cough scores two more points, and "the diagnosis of AIDS is established.

Based on this article and other similar articles I am not sure if the number of AIDSpatients is truly as high as the accepted stats show.

Some very good articles on diagnosing AIDS can be found at the NCBI.NLM.NIH's (National Center For Biotechnology Information, National Library of Medicine, National Institute of Health) website of available publications.

From what I read, it is anal sex in hetero's that
is spreading most of the aids in Africa...
"plain vanilla" sex is not safe, but has a much lower
rate of transmission..
There was a study in married, monogamous couples and one
group of married couples practiced vanilla sex,(i.e.
vaginal), and the other group included anal sex.
The outcome after one year, was that 22% or so of the anal
group had documented transmission of HIV, while the other
group had a much lower rate. Sorry, I cannot remember the
reference, but the article appeared in a refereed medical
journal some time ago. ( I think it was New England Journal
of Med,) but I cannot be sure.

Most are poor and haven't had a blood test for HIV. So these are all estimates.

"While it's easier to spread HIV between gay men, most of the victims of the disease in Africa are heterosexual."

well, that's what they say they are....

I understand that homosexuality is so taboo that even the word doesn't exist in some African dialects.....

but that's neither here nor there......in America, it has been GAY MEN and DRUG ABUSERS that have spread the disease...and lo and behold, its pretty much stayed in its target group.....

we will get an occassional hetero who doesn't use drugs get the infection...invariably....they have had close intimate contact with either a man who is bisexual and doesn't admit it, or a person who uses needle drugs and doesn't admit it either....
