Vanity: Dixie Chicks tour ticket sales disaster in Red States
Ticketmaster.com ^ | 6/3/06 | self

This is my first vanity, so please indulge me.

Dixie Chicks tour tickets went on sale today to the public in many market and it's starting to look a disaster, especially in the Red States.

There were initial indications that internet pre-sale ticket sales were going badly last week, but this confirms the news.

A review of seat availabilities on Ticketmaster indicate first-day and pre-sale ticket sales for the portly traitors are:

Detroit-Bad

Pittsburgh-Disaster

Philadelphia-Bad

Boston-Almost Sold Out

Wash. DC.-Selling Well

Chicago-Selling Well

Minneapolis-Bad

Fargo-Meltdown Disaster

Glendale, AZ-Bad

Omaha-Disaster

Denver-Disaster

Dallas-Disaster

Nashville-Meltdown Disaster

Tampa-Meltdown Disaster

Sunrise, FL-Meltdown Disaster

Atlanta-Selling Okay

Tacoma-Disaster

More venues go on-sale in the next week. California will probably go well for the cows, but the rest of the U.S. seems to be saying that the Chicks will be playing to half-empty arenas.

California will probably go well for the cows,

That depends on where they are playing. California is not Massachusettes. California is composed of some very red counties and some blue counties that contain the large cities.

I suspect they won't do well in San Diego, Bakersfield, Fresno, or Redding. Conversely, I don't believe they will even go to San Francisco -- I doubt there are country music fans there.

They will likely do well in Los Angeles, mostly because there are 12-15 million people within driving distance of any major arena.

from Boston Radio Watch:

"Granted, The Dixie Chicks' latest effort is geared toward an audience different from the one on which they built their career so it would be logical for their new music to find home under a non-country format somewhere else on the local dial. However, according to Mediabase Music Info Systems, a service which keeps track of radio station playlists, no Boston area stations — country, adult contemporary, pop or rock — claim to be playing any of the trio's new music.."

Maybe the Boston concert is selling out because of the constant promos they're getting from CNN ("Dixie Chicks Debut at #1"), Rolling Stoned magazine, etc.

Obviously a different thing than to spend $9 on Amazon to make an anti-Bush statement and to spend $50 and an evening listening to their ranting.

The Dixie Chicks just laid back for a while than started to promote themselves again and it looks like it's a disaster. Oh, too bad.....

America doesn't like smart mouthed traitors.

Boston-Almost Sold Out

I promise you that every single attendee in Boston will be folks who wouldn't walk across the street to see them if they were best known for their respect for Mr Bush.

For comparison with their last tour 8/15/03

http://www.tennessean.com/business/archives/03/08/37696199.shtml?Element_ID=37696199

>>Briefly: Dixie Chicks gross $61M in ticket sales

The Dixie Chicks wrapped up the summer on top of the touring season with $61 million in gross North American ticket sales, despite a spring controversy over an insult lead singer Natalie Maines made at President Bush.

The trio was the top-grossing country tour of the year, with 57 sold-out dates, and was third in overall concert sales, behind the Rolling Stones and Elton John/Billy Joel, according to Pollstar.<<

Not a big country fan (at least not the modern stuff) but I heard this morning on radio that Toby Keith is gonna have a big FUDC party at his restuarant in Bricktown (OKC). Sounds pretty funny. Even though I don't like his music that much I like Toby Keith's attitude.

So how does it explain that they are supposedly #1 on the CM charts?

Methinks funny math was involved in their soaring to #1
