Vanity: Dixie Chicks tour ticket sales disaster in Red States
Ticketmaster.com ^ | 6/3/06 | self

Posted on 06/03/2006 11:05:58 AM PDT by jimbo123

This is my first vanity, so please indulge me.

Dixie Chicks tour tickets went on sale today to the public in many market and it's starting to look a disaster, especially in the Red States.

There were initial indications that internet pre-sale ticket sales were going badly last week, but this confirms the news.

A review of seat availabilities on Ticketmaster indicate first-day and pre-sale ticket sales for the portly traitors are:

Detroit-Bad

Pittsburgh-Disaster

Philadelphia-Bad

Boston-Almost Sold Out

Wash. DC.-Selling Well

Chicago-Selling Well

Minneapolis-Bad

Fargo-Meltdown Disaster

Glendale, AZ-Bad

Omaha-Disaster

Denver-Disaster

Dallas-Disaster

Nashville-Meltdown Disaster

Tampa-Meltdown Disaster

Sunrise, FL-Meltdown Disaster

Atlanta-Selling Okay

Tacoma-Disaster

More venues go on-sale in the next week. California will probably go well for the cows, but the rest of the U.S. seems to be saying that the Chicks will be playing to half-empty arenas.

Why were the Dixie Chicks stupid enough to offer political commentary in the first place?

Michael Jordan once said "Republicans buy shoes too."

re Tacoma WA -

As I went by the Tacoma Dome last night, the reader board advertised the Chick's ticket sales - for a Nov. 11 date.

Nov 11?

Veteran's day?

Ironic.

How does a "Disaster" compare to a "Meltdown Disaster"?

And if the Talk Shows hadn't featured them it would have been even worse I think. I hope they're flippin' burgers by summer's end.

The liberal media was reporting how the Cows hit number #1 on the charts, but refused to report the additional fact that those sales were down by 33% versus their previous album.

It looks like they've lost at least 50% of their previous fans in the Red States based on the album sales and ticket sales numbers.

Tells me the red states are still red and this is good news. The media hype about W's plunging numbers just might be that - hype.

I'm shocked that they could sell out the Garden, either before or after the controversy.

They just were never very good, in my opinion, and country doesn't do that well in NYC.

They must all drive up from South Jersey.

According to today's "American Profile" (west edition) which is like Sunday's "Parade" in answer to a Harlan, Iowa, fan's question: "What became of the Dixie Chicks since Natalie got a little crazy in Europe with her comment about the president? We are huge fans and hope they will return to the scene again."

Answer: "The Chicks released their fourth album, 'Taking the Long Way', in May. Lead singer Natalie Maines' controversial 2003 comment--about feeling 'ashamed' that President Bush was from the group's home state of Texas--and the Chicks-bashing backlash that followed are addressed in the album's first single, tellingly titled 'Not Ready to Make Nice.' Everything felt more personal this time,' Maines says. "Writing these songs and saying everything we had to say makes it possible to move on." The Grammy-winning trio will launch a worldwide tour this summer."

Hopefully, they'll stay abroad. We don't need or want them. I'm ashamed that groups like this come from the US.

Pittsburgh's in a blue state, but there are a lot of country music fans here who vote conservative, so this doesn't surprise me.

CNN mentioned that but they said album sales are down for everybody so this is the 4th biggest album so far this year whereas it would have ranked lower 5 years ago with the same sales.

>>Boston-Almost Sold Out

blue state...though Boston's sole country station, WKLB,
is NOT playing their new album (50-50 reaction to them,
and WKLB program director says when you have a high negative like that it's best to pass on them)

well the Mediot Media gave them all the free PR they could muster...

Has any company been stupid enough to sign on as a tour sponsor? It would be commercial suicide for any company to do so.

I think the MSM will ignore the story because the FAILED comback of the dixie chix further demonstrates the impotence of the old media and the power of direct consumer to consumer communication.

I'm betting ACTUAL PHYSICAL attendance will be low in these Northern Lib areas. Tickets may have been bought in support with no intentions of going. I cannot believe the Chicks music is that pop in Boston. I wouldn't put it past a wealthy lib to be fronting a bunch of tickets.

>>Boston's lone country music radio station WKLB-FM/Country 99.5 so far is ignoring the first two singles from the Dixie Chicks' brand new CD "Taking the Long Way"... WKLB isn't even paying attention to their summer tour by omitting their July 29th stop at TD Banknorth Garden on its concert section of its website.

No local radio promotion for them, but the libs are buying tickets anyway. "What kind of music do these girls play,
anyway? Well, it doesn't matter. Air America told me to
go out and support them, so I'm buying tickets to their
concert..."

I agree.

What's the awe of one bic lighter glowing in the darkness as the Dipsy Chunks play "Wide Open Spaces"??
