A president should not turn a blind eye to his oath of office depending on what he may or may not have campaigned on before he was elected. Using your logic "W" should not have invaded Afghanistan or Iraq based on the fact that he never said anything about doing so while running for the presidency. 9/11 changed that and the current situation with illegals does the same thing because it is a crisis too. It's not the same situation it was in 2000.

Furthermore you are all wet with your analogy regarding Iraq and Stan - Because it is you saying he has changed his position on immigration and turned his back on you.....Not simply that you don't agree with his policies regarding immigration (which would be the case if as CIC he decided not to go into Stan or Iraq....one could say they didn't agree with him not going....no one could say "he has turned his back on us" ....as if he had agreed to do something different prior).
This immigration issue along with the terribly flawed guest worker program is a 40 (20) year in the making problem. Not a 4 year in the making problem whatsoever - GWB is the first President in the last 20 years to address it! (not too mention taking on a number of other serious issues within these past 5 years as well).
Again, GWB position on immigration hasn't changed one bit in the last 5 years. He has turned his back on no one - Rush Limbaugh makes this point clearly all the time (even though he doesn't agree with him fully regarding immigration).
