"What was going on six months ago? December/November?"
___________________________________________________________
November 18, 2005 in the US House Murtha called for the immediate withdrawal of Troops from Iraq:

The fiery, emotional debate climaxed when Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Ohio, the most junior member of the House, told of a phone call she received from a Marine colonel.
"He asked me to send Congress a message - stay the course. He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message - that cowards cut and run, Marines never do," Schmidt said.
Democrats booed and shouted her down - causing the House to come to a standstill.
Rep. Harold Ford, D-Tenn., charged across the chamber's center aisle screaming that it was an uncalled for personal attack. "You guys are pathetic. Pathetic," yelled Rep. Marty Meehan, D-Mass.

Just these lines :

A Reuters-In-Iraq reporter who is the source for the 'Haditha Massacre' media frenzy has been arrested and detained by US Troops, twice. Once earler for about five months and as recent as two weeks ago. Even Reuters admits:

"Ali al-Mashhadani, 37, was arrested by U.S. Marines in his home town of Ramadi on May 20"

The source for the Haditha story is none other than Mr. Mashhadani who broke the story only weeks after being released from US Custody the first time, for having evidence on his camera that Marines say indicated his ties to the Insurgency.

...make this worth a Military Tribunal/GCM for any one that put this crap out.

I have to say it is endlessly discouraging to beat your brains out digging out stories like this, to then have others come along and claim credit.

But I've gotten used to it. (Almost.)

You've done some great work on this story and others. Some of your Sheehan articles are priceless, too.

And the President, Congressmen and certain Generals are making damning comments about an alleged incident that is based on this man's story? Make no mistake, all of this hysteria springs directly from the American phenomenon of political correctness, an insane ideology that causes knee-jerk reactions whenever any "minority" is alleged to have been abused by anyone perceived as being powerful. It's nauseating, even Bush has fallen into the trap.

They will stage killings to get support!

Don't forget the terrorists dressed in US uniforms that Saddam promised us.

If the investigations were finished and the court martial was over, with Marines found guilty of war crimes, the following article would be justified. Without any of the above, it only serves the interest of our enemy.

Official story about Haditha lasted months

Thanks for the heads up.

Haditha articles and associated blogs, threads and posts have been gushing out so fast that I can hardly keep track of them - let alone attribute sources correctly.

I've taken the compromised position that the first FR thread gets recognition with subsequent threads (if I even notice them) being listed as duplicates.

In keeping with the FR segregation scheme, I also tag blogs and or vanities as opposed to straight article postings.

In your case, your Sweetness & Light Blog site articles are cutting edge and even quicker than FR posts - I'll have to find a better way to assign credit on my list. Thank you for your forbearance while I get things staightened out. :/

Regards,
David

Staged killings? Been done before in the Balkans and the whole West fell for it.

This Guardian article, written in August 2005, describes Haditha as it was a couple months before the incident. It is not pretty: (hughhewitt)Monday August 22, 2005 Guardian gains rare access to Haditha and finds it fully in control of 'mujahideen'
The executions are carried out at dawn on Haqlania bridge, the entrance to Haditha. A small crowd usually turns up to watch even though the killings are filmed and made available on DVD in the market the same afternoon. One of last week's victims was a young man in a black tracksuit. Like the others he was left on his belly by the blue iron railings at the bridge's southern end. His severed head rested on his back, facing Baghdad. Children cheered when they heard that the next day's spectacle would be a double bill: two decapitations. A man named Watban and his brother had been found guilty of spying.

With so many alleged American agents dying here Haqlania bridge was renamed Agents' bridge. Then a local wag dubbed it Agents' fridge, evoking a mortuary, and that name has stuck.

A three-day visit by a reporter working for the Guardian in Haditha, a farming town of 90,000 people by the Euphrates river, is an insurgent citadel. The Islamist guerrillas are the sole authority, running the town's security, administration and communications. A three-hour drive north from Baghdad, under the nose of an American base, it is a miniature Taliban-like state. Insurgents decide who lives and dies, which salaries get paid, what people wear, what they watch and listen to. http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1553969,00.html

20 Marines lost their lives in August in this insurgent stronghold. They died in two separate attacks: 14 died when a roadside bomb exploded beneath their Amphibious Assault Vehicle during combat operations south of Haditha, Iraq, on August 3, 2005, and six sniper team members killed by enemy small-arms fire in an ambush outside Haditha, Iraq, on August 1, 2005.
