Toronto is a terrible place. Steer clear at all costs. I'm sure they are not too happy there because of the "racial profiling". It may be a terrible place to live, as I haven't ever lived there. But as t_skoz says, it's a great place to visit. The CN Tower is wonderful and a phenominal view. It's lakeside which is great. The downtown district is one of the nicest for a city and rivals that of say Chicago and Baltimore. NYC is in a class by itself there.
There are also a ton of things to do within 20 minutes to a couple of hours from there that one simply can't so in most other cities. The locks over in Thorold are awesome. Niagara on the Lake, Canadian side, is very, very nice. There are very nice lake regions north of Toronto by two or three hours.

Toronto?
Born there & now (thankfully!) live a couple of blocks beyond it's Western Boundary.
If I were an American - especially one with even the most remote military connection - I wouldn't spend a dime there.
Ironically, a major contributing factor in its progression from 'Toronto the good' to 'San Francisco North' and/or 'the mega-city of evil' was the Vietnam-era influx of the dregs of American society in the person of tens of thousands of its draft-dodgers & military deserters.
Since then they've weaseled their way into our most culturally sensitive institutions: especially education at all levels, our msm & legal system.
