Mo doubt about it, the usual suspects in the media are hysterical in that this incident validates their wolrdview of US soldiers as unapologetic, rampaging thugs. Even if all the allegations are true, in fact it doesn't validate their worldview.

Hugh Hewitt yesterday did some homework and found the figure of 900,000 soldiers have served in Afghanistan & Iraq, and between Abu Garab (which was overstated) and this incident (which may turn out to be entirely true), you're looking at maybe 40 or 45 soldiers behaving notably badly. Very small.

Apart from their hysterics, I'm deferential to the investigators. It's interesting to note that a media that goes to pains to insist that the enemy is a small percentage of whackos, goes to no lengths at all to show that wrongdoing is done by a very small percentage of US soldiers.

Hugh has been doing some good homework on this. Whether guilty or innocent, it's time for the new media to step up to the plate and insert sanity in the media dialog.
