The only explanation for the President's behavior that I can think of is that he is personally profiting from illegal immigration

You are wrong. The economy is booming and the GOP holds more offices than in the last 50 years and this coincides with a rise in immigration (legal and illegal).

Further, Bush would have been far richer by staying in the private sector.

Please explain to me how the GOP holding offices is connected with illegal immigration. Do you honestly believe there is a significant voting bloc that favors the President only because he is pro-illegal alien?

Whether Bush would have been richer in the private sector is disputable. I understand he has a mixed record as an entrepreneur.

The economy is booming

Here's a primer on Accounting 101: there are nominal (period in time) accounts such as revenues and expenses that show up on the profit & loss statement (P&L); and real accounts such as assets & liabilities that show up on the balance sheet.

The current positive economic indicators to which you infer are unemployment & GDP ie P&L (nominal) accounts. However, the real impact of illegals are on the balance sheet: unfunded liabilities (ie bond issues) caused by demand for health, social, welfare & educational services.

Look no further than the largest economy within the Union (Calif) to see the effect of a huge state that has terrible roads, closed hospitals, overcrowded schools, high crime, etc, etc to see the TRUE effects of importing low-skill, low paid 3rd world manual laborers.
