Boortz: I NEED HELP UNDERSTANDING THIS ONE (Rant on immigration reform)
Neal's Nuze ^ | 2 June 2006 | Neal Boortz

Posted on 06/02/2006 5:26:21 AM PDT by Small-L

President Bush spoke yesterday in Los Angeles on the subject of immigration reform. For the life of me I cannot figure out what is motivating his stance on this subject.

Bush, speaking to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, insists that any immigration bill passed by the Congress be "comprehensive." Just exactly does he mean by "comprehensive." Glad you asked. He means that a bill that simply provides for tighter border security and harsher punishment for employers who hire people who are in this country illegally will not satisfy his demands. We're being invaded. Some of the invaders crossing our borders refer to themselves as "reconquistadors." If you don't hablo Espanol, let me help you. They are calling themselves "re-conquerors." Many of them ... who knows what percentage ... are not just here to find some better-paying work so they can send dinero back home ... they are here to conquer and establish political control of huge parts of the American Southwest. If their purposes were entirely benign, why would they print articles in major Mexican magazines bearing headlines like "Los Angeles is ours!"

Can anyone reading this or listening to me on the radio think of one job -- one duty owed this country by the man we made president that is more solemn, more serious, more important than to use whatever resources he may have at his disposal to turn back an invasion of our homeland? Does the president's duty to protect and defend our borders only come into play if the invasion force is carrying guns?

This particular invasion force doesn't need guns. They're going to have a more potent weapon, the ballot. What does this "fast-track" to citizenship that Bush is so insistent upon really mean? That means a fast track to putting ballots in the hands of those we now call illegal aliens. This is the ultimate goal of President Bush, Ted Kennedy, John McCain and others. In fact, movements are already underway in many states and municipalities to grant full voting rights to non-citizens, and in some cases illegal aliens!

Think of the strength behind a ballot! Americans have been using ballots for hundreds of years to change leadership, to punish political wrongdoing, and to reward political courage. Americans now gleefully use this weapon to gain access to the property of others, and this they do without a moment's thought given to their legal form of plunder. A ballot can be used to change our very way of life in this country. A ballot can be used to gain access to the pockets of every single working American. A ballot can be used to open the floodgates even further to an broader invasion force. A ballot can be used to destroy our rights to property and to diminish our standing as free and independent individuals. What happens when this weapon is placed in the hands of tens of millions of people who had no respect whatsoever for the laws of this country, millions of people who broke the law coming here and broke the law by staying! What happens when this weapon is placed in the hands of people who show no desire whatsoever to assimilate into American culture; people who show disdain for our language and our customs; people who wave flags of their homeland instead of the banner of the United States as they demonstrate for their undeserved amnesty.

President Bush says that the " vast majority of illegal immigrants are decent people." Sorry, Mr. President. They're criminals. Criminals are not generally regarded as decent people, except perhaps by politicians. The decent people you speak of are the ones still in Mexico, still in Guatemala, still in Honduras and Colombia. The decent people are the ones who visit the American embassy or consulate to begin the arduous task of applying for permission .... legal permission to enter the United States. The decent people, Mr. President, wait patiently day after day for that magical notice to arrive from U.S. officials telling them that the American people await their arrival as legal, law abiding new neighbors.

Never in my 37 years of talk radio have I seen a time when the politicians inside the beltway have been so completely and thoroughly out of touch with the American people. Eight out of ten Americans want the border between the U.S. and Mexico sealed. These Americans have somehow developed the attitude that the people they send to Washington to make decisions related to our national security have some sort of a duty to recognize an invasion when it is happening, and to take steps to stop it. They don't want Bush's "comprehensive" approach. They want a direct, focused approach. Criminals are pouring across our borders, and they want it stopped. Now. These Americans do not want amnesty for those who have wantonly and brazenly ignored our laws.

The House Republican leadership is talking a tough game right now. No amnesty. No guest worker program. But ... right now that's all it is. Talk. If Speaker Hastert and Majority Leader Boehner want to insure that Nancy Pelosi will occupy the Speaker's office come next January all they have to do is cave in to Bush and the Senate with a comprehensive plan embracing anything that looks, smells or tastes like amnesty. I think I have some sort of a sense of what people are fired up about, and believe me, this issue has people burning mad.

I like your post 74. Please read my post 78.

I think shooting the old folks is a real possibility unless we get another free lunch fix.

Advanced robotics and high temp superconductors may be able to bail us out so we don't have to shoot the old folks.

Personally, I am being taxed to the point of not wanting to work anymore. But I know that I was a huge leech on the system when I was a kid and the taxes I pay are for the old folks who paid taxes for me when I was young and I also have to pay taxes to support today's kids.

Sonny boy, you are really getting too close to being branded a rino/traitor/obl lobbyist.

Everyone knows that ""Illegal Immigration is the root of all evil".

The economy is booming

Here's a primer on Accounting 101: there are nominal (period in time) accounts such as revenues and expenses that show up on the profit & loss statement (P&L); and real accounts such as assets & liabilities that show up on the balance sheet.

The current positive economic indicators to which you infer are unemployment & GDP ie P&L (nominal) accounts. However, the real impact of illegals are on the balance sheet: unfunded liabilities (ie bond issues) caused by demand for health, social, welfare & educational services.

Look no further than the largest economy within the Union (Calif) to see the effect of a huge state that has terrible roads, closed hospitals, overcrowded schools, high crime, etc, etc to see the TRUE effects of importing low-skill, low paid 3rd world manual laborers.

we are going to shoot the old folks.

You may have to shoot us, because the government and courts have ruled that it is illegal for us to shoot ourselves.

What abuse, what arrogance, what tyranny is worse than forcing someone who is dying to live in excruciating pain, total dementia, gasping for every breath rather than allow them to choose a peaceful death. If we can write living wills, why can't they include specifications on when we want someone to administer putting us out of our misery?

let me elaborate on free lunch 7 in post 48.

You import adult guest workers, you don't have to pay 130,000 to the public school system, parents don't have to pay either to raise a kid, the guest workers work, and you kick them out before they retire.

That is the free lunch plan.

Dirtboy, I couldn't agree more! What disturbs me, though, is how our own government is turning a totally deaf ear to us on this issue. Another concern is how we can marshal sufficient numbers to make our voices heard loud and clear, both to the government and the corporate world. Yes, I believe Congress is in for a big shock this November, and I have no way of knowing what type of shock it will be. The businesss world is a different story -- because of globalization, IMO. Markets are getting huge, and a few hundred thousand (or a few million) consumers aren't going to mean much to a company that sells its wares in 20 countries.

Then, there's the "bread and circuses" aspect. Joe Sixpack's not aware of the implications here, and won't want to learn as long as he's got the wide-screen and the aforementioned six pack.

I'm open to encouragement, and I'll certainly do my part, but I am getting concerned. And that's not like me.

I agree with your post 83.

We need to get rid of the illegals before they retire and if they have kids, we need to get rid of them too.

The US financial system has been living on a series of one time free lunches. This is the last one to try.

Basically, the people want a lot of govt. services (anyone want to try to cut medicaid or medicare ? Ans is NO.) and not pay for them (anyone want to raise taxes ?)

Free lunch number 1 was social security. Generation 1 gets free stuff paid for by gen 2. Gen 2 gets repaid by gen 3, etc. You get 1 free lunch for gen 1.

Free lunch no. 2 was WWII. The world destroyed itself while the US was barely touched economically.

Free lunch no. 3, put the women to work.

Free lunch no. 4, globalization holds down inflation while the govt. can print money (which would normally cause inflation) to spend on all kinds of stuff.

Free lunch no.5, technological innovation. This has been wonderful but we are running out of innovations. The few that are left are high temp superconductors, nuclear energy, fusion, better robots (which are a lot like guest workers)

Free lunch no.6, import adult guest workers (you don't have to pay to school them or raise/rear them as kids, and you send them home before they retire)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You have quite an amazing grasp of the issues.
Ultimately, in the end, all of them have led to more and more government. And in the end, the centralization of government power will bring about the total collapse of our economy.
Until they change the laws to allow guest workers to bring in their families - because we have to be compassionate. /Bush-flavored conservatism
Your plan isn't on the table. The Senate amnesty bill is. Any legalization of the illegals will result in illegals getting the franchise, because this is what the Dems want. The Dems are not going to allow Mexicans to stay in this country to be exploited by business, without getting their cheap votes. So stop dreaming about some middle ground.
Tell us, do you say yea or nay to the Senate Bill?
If the democrats take over congress then the GOP has only themselves to blame. I WILL NOT SELL OUT MY CHILDREN by just sitting back and letting our representatives be bought off by special interests and cheap labor. 12 million now (probably more), then add all the relatives and children. I will insist my children obey the law and get an education. I fully expect them to be productive citizens, if things keep heading in the direction they are now, my kids will be footing the bill for another 30 million illiterate third world country slaves. Just so you don't have to mow your own lawn. We are being invaded right now, another few years they will be a huge voting block, running for office and I'm sure they will all be republicans........yeah thats the ticket. How about we start doing whatever it takes to make sure we stay a sovereign nation, and not let it be taken over by people whose first act was to break our laws. I thought we were a nation of laws. I thought that the first job of the federal goverment was to protect its citizens from foreign invaders. I thought we formed this nation to get away from taxation without representation. I thought our goverment was a representation of WE THE PEOPLE. As for the trooops, did you or your family members fight for the freedoms we have to be horsewhipped by illegal criminals telling WE THE PEOPLE that they are gonna come in here do whatever they want without any repercussions and we are going to just bow to their demands!!!!! I don't think so.
Let's see my brother is special forces and was in the initial invasion of Afghanistan. Remember when old Johnnie Walker was there?? Husband's cousin is a Green Beret, been in Afghanistan and Iraq a few times in the past few years. Oh and just 2 weeks ago I said goodbye to someone very dear to me, he quit college and he is now at Paris Island. I will be sure to ask my brother and cousin what they think about illegal immigration, in fact I will post the question to my brothers friends, both active and nonactive, he keeps up with all of them, to ask their opinion of what they think of illegal aliens. Please don't insinuate what is relevant in my life. I have more manners than to do that to you.
