More Guantanamo Bay detainees protesting their indefinite confinement joined a hunger strike, raising the number of inmates refusing food to 89 from 75, the U.S. military said Thursday.
Six of the hunger strikers at the isolated U.S. naval base in southeast Cuba were being force-fed, said Navy Cmdr. Robert Durand.
And to top it off, the quicker they die, the less we have to spend guarding them. And no more "prisoner abuse!"
Great news all around!
Who cares... they are CONSTANTLY on hunger strikes. No reason for AP to write a story on it, or to post it here at FR.
The same thing will happen... after a week only half a dozen 'hard core' will be on the strike and those will get stick with a BIG NEEDLE and fed that way.

Not quite what I have in mind when reading thinking about being 'force-fed'. How bout force feeding the prisoners to a group of starving tigers.

At first, I was opposed to the US intervening by force-feeding prisoners who had gone on hunger strike.
I thought "What the hell? Let the bastards starve to death."
Then I thought about it and came to the conclusion that some of these guys truly want to die because they will believe they will be martyrs.
Keeping them alive denies them the martyrdom they desire. It shows that the US has full and complete dominance over their lives.
That fact cannot be reassuring or appealing to the prisoners at Guantanamo.
We should respect their ethnic diversity and let they strike.
How about a show of hands for who cares? Anyone???
They'll HAVE to close Guantanamo if every prisoner there goes on a hunger strike.

If we really were as bad as the Communists and Fascists the Left constantly supports, we wouldn't even let it out that they were on a hunger strike. When was the last time Castro's officials ever informed the world about their prisoner hunger strikes?
The baby back ribs are primarily the reason I can never be a Muslim or a Jew.
