No assumptions friend. What I state is not opinion, but fact. I note that you don't dispute anything I have said.

You can self-insure your home and car. You can accept and manage your own risks. There is no requirement for you to give money to insurance companies.

If insurors are the scum you describe, why do you do business with them?

They won't make homeowners insurance affordable in Florida will they now? They certainly will collect more from homeowners but its not going to be enough to make people keep their insurance around.

So people will pay the tax and forego the insurance. From their point of view, they'll get more from the tax than they will see from their insurance if they get hit by a hurricane.
