Not satisfied with his taxpayer-funded female hormones and laser hair removal, a convicted killer-turned-transsexual is again asking the state to pony up to complete his transformation into a woman.
Robert Kosilek, who is serving life in prison for strangling his wife, was back in federal court yesterday, again demanding that the state Department of Correction pay for his sex-change operation.
A similar bid was denied in 2002, and his latest attempt has infuriated Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey.
“I strongly oppose using taxpayer dollars to fund a sex-change operation for any prisoner, but especially a convicted murderer,” Healey said.
“Should taxpayer money be used for a sex-change operation? I think the answer is a resounding ‘no,’ ” she said. “He shouldn’t be receiving any special treatment whatsoever.”
Kosilek, 57, claims he is suicidal and needs the sex change for “medical” reasons.
A psychiatrist testified in federal court that Kosilek - who is now known as Michelle - will kill himself if the surgery is not allowed.
In 2002, Judge Mark Wolf ordered the DOC to provide him with female hormones but refused to order the surgery. Kosilek has also received therapy and laser hair removal treatments behind bars but wants the state to pick up the tab for the operation.
“We ask that gender identity disorder be treated like any other medical condition,” said Kosilek’s attorney, Frances Cohen.
Kosilek, who wears his hair long and tucked behind his ears, has developed larger breasts since beginning hormone treatments.
He has testified that he suffered from gender identity disorder since he was 3 years old and had attempted suicide twice. He has also said he tried to castrate himself.
The con began his crusade for a taxpayer-funded sex change after his 1990 arrest for strangling his 36-year-old wife, Cheryl. Her body was dumped in a parking lot.
Kosilek was convicted in 1993 of first-degree murder and is serving life without parole.
DOC lawyers argued that it would be a security risk to allow the operation because Kosilek would likely be targeted for attack by other inmates.
Don't pay for it and let him/her/it commit suicide so that our tax dollars won't have to continue feeding, housing, and clothing this parasite.

What an idiot! If he had only lived in USSRW (aka "Washington State") he would probably have had his operation by now. At taxpayer expense, no less. In government gobbledy-gook, it is called "gender reassignment."

Well, Massachusetts once paid via medicaid for a sex change on a guy who turned out to be from New Hampshire anyway. The Governor at the time ordered it not to go through but a Dukakis judge overruled him. Then the individual decided that being a she didn't solve his personal problem and sued to get changed back to a he. This time the courts didn't back [pick a pronoun] up.
I don't understand these people well, having never known one, but I find it peculiar that we treat this one particular mismatch between mind and matter with surgical intervention.
I mean, if this guy had decided that he was Columbus and sued the state to give him three tall ships to find the new world, he wouldn't have gotten this far. If he decided he was the Flying Wallendas and demanded a high-wire, he wouldn't get that. There are people with munchhausen syndrome or hypochondria who are certain that they have AIDS, but no one injects them with HIV to adapt their reality to their mind.
So when he decides he's a woman, who in blazes decided the right approach is to alter his secondary sexual characteristics through medical intervention? I mean, it's not like they can actually make him a woman. His last couple of chromosomes will always betray him. IF he ever stops regular doses of female hormones, some of the faux-female secondary sexual characteristics he now has will try to revert, to a point that depends on whether his male glands have been removed, I suppose.
I mean, who do these people think they're kidding?

The prison should just do itself a favor and let the murderous scum kill himself. It would finally give his victim some justice, save the taxpayers money on room and board as well as saving the public coffers against such a flagarant money-grab.

Dara, I'm not surprised this article was posted several times.
Again, I did a search to try to see if this article had already been posted but couldn't find it. The search uses keywords, not the text of the article, so unless I search on one of keywords entered by the original poster, or see the article on the ping list (I looked and didn't see it), I wouldn't see it.
So I posted it.
