This weekend a woman approached DC Chapter co-leader Kristinn to tell him that she accompanied her husband as he had recently been treated in Walter Reed for three months. "After a long day and long weeks of feeling down and depressed," she related, "seeing you people out on the street with messages of support was such a lift -- not only for us, but for lots of other families there at Walter Reed."

It's why we do it, folks. It's fun, it's uplifting; and it's even more enjoyable now that warm weather has returned.

FReepers from all over the country have visited DC, had a great time seeing Washington's incomparable monuments and museums, and made the time to stand with us in honor of our wounded and in support of their families. Come and stand with us this Friday, and lots of Fridays!

Ample parking on the streets. We order pizza. See you there!

Please continue to PING me with your reports. I made it to DC for the September '04 anti-Kerry rally and would like to make it back again. But stuck out here in rural NM, it is really a chore. If I need to come back east again for business or otherwise I will do what I can to include a Friday night DC stayover.

I really appreciate the efforts of the DC chapter in keeping up the morale of the troops.

Thanks for all you guys do! It means a lot to all the military families out here. Sorry I can't help out, but Nebraska is a long way from DC.
I spent my Memorial day at the funeral of a soldier that was killed in Baghdad. He served along side my son who was also in the same blast that took his friend. Very sad day.
