I had someone who doesn't play golf, ask me why so many businessmen played.

My reply was is the best game to show you, your opponents character.

That's why it's good to go golfing with a prospective pastor. What a rare glimpse into the soul such a golf game can be!

If how you keep score in golf is the best way to show your character, then what does it say about me that I've never kept score (to the annoyance of my friends whom I'm playing with, who are usually very competitive). I play about 4 or 5 times a year and never take mulligans, move the ball etc.. I just have fun playing the ball from where it lands without being distracted by having to remember how many strokes it took to make it into the hole.

You couldn't be more correct.

I have always maintained that if I could play golf with someone, by the end of the round, I would know enough about that person's character to decide wether or not I wanted to do business with that person or wanted them as a friend.
