implausible

adj 1: having a quality that provokes disbelief; "gave the teacher an implausible excuse" [ant: plausible] 2: highly imaginative but unlikely; "a farfetched excuse"; "an implausible explanation" [syn: farfetched]

Maybe you should rewo0rd that because the Deer example I afforded you is real and losing control of a car after initial collision is not far fetched in the least.

While you may simply disregard it, that in and of itself does make it what you claimed it to be.

Seat belts do help in many situations, that is a fact you should accept. But you are free to live in denial if you chose to about that point.

Unless you have real evidence to the contrary, I believe that wearing a seatbelt or not has minimal effect on whether others will be harmed.

In the unlikely event I hit a deer, and in the unlikely event that in such a rural place there are other motorists nearby, the odds of my hitting them are minimally if at all affected by whether I am wearing a seatbelt.

If you need such silly scenarios to make your case, it tells me something about your case.

Forgive me, but you are a retired government employee, aren't you?

Regarding your deer scenario:

I have hit two deer. One in suburbia at 40 MPH without loss of control. One in the boondocks at 70 MPH and no loss of control. Didn't even kill the deer and didn't do much damage to the cars.

I also hit an animal (unknown) on the turnpike while driving at close to 100 MPH in a subcompact. Again no loss of control although I have no idea if the animal survived, but the car and the passengers did. That was my first collision with anything and I was a kid with little experience driving.

So, am I extraordinarily lucky or an exceptional driver to have not lost control of the car.
