Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey is vying to become the next Congreswoman from Pennsylvania's 12th District. Ms. Irey's reasons for challenging her opponent in this race:
"For decades, western Pennsylvania looked to John Murtha to stand up for our values. But as the years have drifted by, John Murtha has drifted further and further from the ideals that made this country great. He has become part of the problem in Washington. I don't believe we are receiving the representation in Congress we deserve and the time for change is now."
Diana Irey has a proven track record during her tenure as a Washington County Commissioner. She has successfully delivered seven consecutive balanced budgets without one tax increase. She has also worked tirelessly to enhance economic development in the region by working to create thousands of jobs for area residents.
Commissioner Irey considers her greatest accomplishment, along with her husband's, the raising of three children ages 16,15, and 12. "They are the reason I'm running. I can't sit quietly by while the special interests in Washington, D.C. continue to spend away our children's future."
Diana Irey has spent the last decade in public service as a Washington County Commissioner, and she is now running to bring her vision of government responsibility, lower taxes, and family values to the United States Congress as the Representative of the 12th District.
Please join Jim Robinson & Free Republic in hosting Ms. Irey on Flag Day to discuss her campaign against John Murtha, the economy, our national security, and other issues of your choosing. Questions may be pre-submitted to Free Republic, and Ms. Irey is willing to answer live questions during the thread. Look for more details as June 14th approaches.

Thanks for your efforts. I am sending a donation and sent out an email on this to friends in my local GOP organization. This is the sort of matter where FR can really have a positive impact. I'm just posting and bumping, ma'am. It's efforts like yours that will really make the difference and contribute to Johnny Murtha's early and embarassing retirement.

Shamelessly stolen from another thread:
Last week I posted to you most of the text of a note I sent (from Michigan) with a check to (Diana) Irey for Congress, Murtha's challenger. I received [a] routine thank you note within a few days, and today Diana herself called, and spent 10 minutes chit-chatting with me. IMO, a more gracious, decent, and intelligent American Lady with similar concerns and hopes for our country would be difficult to find. She didn't sound very much like a politician at all, to me. Too bad I can't actually vote for her :(
She seems nicely surprised to be receiving national support for her campaign (donors from 46 states so far), and the incredible number of hits on her campaign website......soooo many that if each hit so far sent just a dollar, the entire campaign would be financed as of today! Her campaign speech being posted now will probably increase her bandwidth requirements, LOL.
The only thing is, I can't decide which to send Murtha....a bottle of Aricept or Kaopectate :)

Thanks for the update.
We need to find a way to get her on Rush/Hannity/Medved/Levin and any other place she can get national exposure, both for her campaign and to make Murtha look like the pitiful fool he is. I am sick of him getting the media attention.

Really good news and thanks for letting us know. I don't think there are many people running for office that personally call donors and thank them. Diana Irey sounds like a real lady.
After her being on the Alan Colmes radio show last night it shouldn't be too hard to get her on Hannity's radio show. I'm sure he would treat her more respectfully than Colmes did.
After that she should go on H&C TV show.

Hey Coop - please put me on this list.
In gleeful memory of our successful efforts with the Daschle/Thune race, I sent her a donation last week and will again soon.

She's already been on Laura Ingraham's show and Alan Colmes' radio show. If her campaign's momentum keeps building as it has the past couple of weeks, more will surely follow.

What a nice anecdote! Contrast that with the Hildabeast publicly bragging about being buddies with her hotel maid.
Let us know when & where we can send our questions. I'm really looking forward to Diana's visit with us!

There was no thread on it. I didn't find out about it until 10 minutes before she was due on.
He interviewed her on Murtha and his statements and kept talking over her when she tried to fully explain her answers. He then brought up term limits, withdrawal of troops from Iraq, impugning Murtha's character and a few other things.
Then he had about 5 callers, 4 out of the 5 supported her stance on Murtha. Diana did well, especially for as biased as Colmes is.

I called the number on her site to make sure I had the right address, I guess I have an accent and her aid asked what state I was calling from, when I said, Louisiana, she seemed very surprised.
For people who don't use credit cards but, money orders(like I do)her mailing address is on her site.

Good for you! Thanks for supporting Diana Irey's campaign. Since the worker expressed surprise maybe Louisiana was one of the missing states, and she's now up to 47! :-)

I'm not surprised he talked over her. I had to stop watching H& C because I couldn't stomach that creepy Sleestack any more.
It's good to know that 4 out of 5 of the callers supported Diana. Murtha's disgraceful treason crosses party lines.
