For a "moderate" who's sometimes referred to as a "RINO" in these parts, Peter King has definitely hung tough in this matter.

I've never seen a disconnect between the will of the people and the actions of elected officials as we've seen in the Senate.
Couldn't say it better myself.

Time will tell if his assertations are correct. Anything can happen and the dynamics can change rather quickly in Washington. That is why the pressure must be maintained on the House.

I've never seen a disconnect between the will of the people and the actions of elected officials as we've seen in the Senate. Let's hope that "disconnect" results in seeing every last one of those who voted for this abomination get booted out of office (when their terms are up).

All right Peter King!
He hit that one out of the ball park. And like another freeper said, 'someone gets it'
To be honest, I was worried about the bill becoming law and its still not over yet. Bt it looks to be more and more like our representative government is going to work this time, hallelujah!

This, he said "is amnesty. The more the senators deny it, Democrat and Republican, the more they deny it, the more the president denies it, it's amnesty. And the American people don't want it. I've never seen a disconnect between the will of the people and the actions of elected officials as we've seen in the Senate.
12/03/98 | CNN | GOP Group Circulates Censure Petition | Excerpt: Meanwhile, a group of approximately 20 Republican lawmakers, led by Rep. Peter King (R-New York), is circulating a petition promoting censure of the president as an alternative to impeachment. The proposed censure would include a financial penalty and some sort of statement of wrongdoing or contrition from the president stopping short of admitting to illegal behavior.

King was a big fan of amnesty back in '98.

Commenting on Dobbs remark that Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., had described the Senate bill as the will of the Senate, King snapped: "The will of the Senate was not the will of the people. Amen Rep. King!
There's a thread tonight with comments by the Senators who DID NOT vote for the amnesty bill.
While I appreciate them voting no, there's a real disconnect. In their comments as to why they voted no, not one of them said anything even close to, "My constituents elected me to the Senate because I promised to do their will. I listened to my constituents and that's why I voted against the bill."
How disappointing.

Call me cynical, but this is the word of a single man. He still needs to corral 230 Republicans(some of whom like CIRA). There are still many more battles that needs to be fought before CIRA is in the asheap of bad legislation.

On the other hand we have to protect the rights of illegal immigrants. And what rights would those be? Our constitution grants rights to lawful CITIZENS, NOT illegals.

Funny how being up for election in a few months clarifies the vision.

Well, finally a voice of reason in a cacophony of dissonance in the ILLEGAL CRIMINAL INVASION OF AMERICA. The fact that it is coming from a RhINO makes it even better. We are watching HISTORY in the making, either the crossroads of the END of the REpublican Party or the beginning of return to REPUBLICAN ROOTS.

And this is just a total disconnect, and as a Republican, our base is totally against it. Yes, it's senseless to be fighting your own base this close to an election.
It's almost as if the RINOs want the Democrats to do well at the polls this year.
