Texas FReeper, the purpose of this thread is to help plan activities(such as a FReeper Dinner) for the June 2-3, 2006 Texas State Republican Convention. If you have suggestions for an eating place or a particular time, please post them here.
Please feel free to post endorsements for various party candidates or positions on Party Rules or the Platform.
We are late in getting started, so let's get things going. Even if you don't have any suggestions, please let us know if you are attending.
There are several restaurants in the RiverCenter but we would probaby need reservations for several.
If all else fails, we can try meeting at one of the booths such as the RLC(Republican Liberty Caucus.
Ping for previous delegates.
A few more pings.

Are you a delegate or just hope to help out somewhere?
The Friday place will probably need to be within walking distance of the Convention Center. If you can convince folks to head out there(NW S.A.?) later Saturday, then it might be possible.
Yes! it does need to be close to the convention center. Could be like someone with a big hotel room.
FReep Mail me for my cell number
You know me as Leapfrog.
I liked your reply to the summer reader on an earlier thread.
I think Gracey is the cellphone coordinator. (c;
Everyone gets this wrong.
I was in the Navy, not the Marines.
Otherwise, we're cool.
Wait a minute, I remember you holding a red Marine Corps flag.
Yep...
Gracey has it!
You live near both of the Vice-Chair Candidates. Do either of them have any history on positions/leadership?
I'm supporting Bobby Eberle for Vice Chair. See his campaign web site and his news/blog site GOPUSA for more information. Bobby has been active in the Harris County Republican Party and I think he's on target with his opinions I've seen.
He has consistently attended HCRP meetings.
I don't know Robin Armstrong, the other Vice Chair candidate and have not seen him at any HCRP meetings.
Both candidates have endorsements from people I respect, and some I don't.

I'll be attending as a delegate.
The Spaghetti Factory might be a good choice. It's a little East of the Convention Center. Has parking, and a decent size bar. Moderate prices.
The River Walk cafes/restaurants will be crowded, even without a convention in town. Whether the ambience is worth the wait is up to you all.
There are some fairly good small restaurants along South Alamo. Added attraction is, "First Friday," San Antonio's contribution to reviving an 60's "East Village" atmosphere. You can almost inhale the time warp.
El Mercado of course has Mi Tierras, Margaritas, etc. close to there is also Pico De Gallo's. All about a ten block bus ride.
River Center Mall which is in the neighborhood, (one Block) has a decent restaurant complex. Better than a "food court" since they are actually restaurants.
Looking forward to seeing you.
