Absolutely. But I would say those were some of our first terrorist activities on our own soil. They appeared and then rapidly were removed from media stories.

For the protection of the family I'm sure, but still not mentioned much in our "history" of terrorist attacks on American soil.

REALLY??? Hmmmmm, I wonder where I spend those two tours of three months at time!!???!? Maybe near where they filmed the REAL moon landing..................

Hum..Things must have changed since the days I was out there. When we were out there (mid 80s) the Big E always stayed out in the IO. There were cruisers, auxiliaries and the like in the Gulf, but the Big E never entered the gulf (at least that was what I was told by the Engineering Officer).

We had quite a few Iranians operating on US soil back then.
Some were quietly taken care of, some simply dropped from the face of the Earth.
It is maddening to see that ignored since it was terrorism, but the thinking at the time probably was "don't start a panic", but apparently it was the not starting a panic led us to September 11th.

Yeah things have changed. The carriers operating in that area now truly do transit the Straits of Hormuz and head on in. A somewhat more risky venture given the recent Iranian president's rantings.

Yeah, the Iranian propagandists have been around for awhile. Could be a signal that Iran is up to something, could just be pro-Iran idiots.

Or Pat Buchanan.

You'd think these losers would come up with something at least somewhat believable.'

Good Call.

The propagandists?
Come up with something remotely believable?
Not likely.
The pro-China propagandists were doing the same thing recently as well.

True.
The quality could improve some.
Could.
But that is a stretch at the moment.

It's asking idiots to be less of an idiot :)

Sometimes it's hard to get people to rise to the level of their own ignorance :)

What? You find something fishy about a model airplane circling over the most advanced carrier in the world and then outracing a fleet of USAF fighters (and helicopters from some branch) and then spiking the football in the endzone as it entered Iranian airspace?

You are such a damn skeptic.

While I was in college there were numerous Iranians enrolled there. The women were loose and free, much more than the US co-eds, and were happy to spend time with American men because the Iranian men were such losers. When the Iranians took over the embassy, some of the Iranians got a little out of hand and started protesting outside the SUB and had to be protected from us (the United Campus Veterans)by the campus police because they were all mouth and no substance. Soon after that all of the Iranian losers withdrew from the college.

In the "old" days (I can't believe I just said that) we used to send the planes up to escort the tankers through the straits. Nowdays, we're right in the neighborhood if needed.

Cruisers, destroyers, auxilliaries, etc right there...along with a full carrier airwing if needed. Crap hitting fan=immediate launch of several fast movers.
