As though the Republican Party won't be better off without that liberal snake, Sherwood Boehlert.

Republicans in the mold of the late Gov. Nelson Rockefeller — socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

---

A lot of them fellars running around today can't even get the fiscally conservative part right or close to it.

"Moderate" Republicans who try to please everbody remind me of a line from some action movie I once saw: "I like you. I'm going to kill you last." That's pretty much the attitude the Democrats have toward them.

Wouldn't we all be better off if the liberal Republicans lost, and the conservatives won?

IOW in the face of a Republican majority, RINOs are finding they are finally expendable.

IOOW: We do not have to suffer fools gladly.

LBJ once accused Goldwater of saying that we should just saw off the NE seaboard. It appears to be like the West coast, moving more left.

Right. President George W. Bush for one.

New York has always preferred its Republicans in the mold of the late Gov. Nelson Rockefeller — socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

False. Nelson Rockefeller was a liberal. He only joined the Republican Party because he preferred wingtips to sandals.

"socially liberal and fiscally conservative"

Since all these "social" issues cost us so much money - how can you be?

Rockefeller wasn't fiscally conservative either. Rockefeller Republicans believe in tilting the table to big business and running the country as a series of cartels.

The father of five and self-described Christian conservative voted twice for Bush but doesn't support him now. "Ever since I was young, I was conservative, and I'm sloooowly listing to the left," said Finzer, who said he's unsure who he'll vote for this year or if he'll even bother.

Liar.

Sweeney recently enlisted the help of Republican Sen. John McCain (news, bio, voting record) of Arizona, the White House hopeful who brings star power but none of the baggage of Bush. At a fundraiser not far from Saratoga's famous racetrack, McCain warned of a tough election season and said the threat to Northeast moderates could drive a geographic wedge through U.S. politics. "I believe the Republican Party should be a national party not a regional one," McCain said.

McCain's shot at conservatives. I know some people don't want to admit there is a war for control of the future of the party AND America still and that they can't straddle a fence anymore between RINO's and conservatives, but their numbers are dwindling if I guage the fall in support for McCain vs the last time such a poll was run on this board.

McCain has made it known he aims to destroy conservatives. If you are a conservative, and this IS a conservative board, the choice should be clear.

I am a conservative and consider McCain my avowed enemy, and anyone that sides with my enemy becomes my defacto enemy.

Message to all you squishy moderate GOPers... you can kiss true conservative voters like Finzer goodbye when you water-down conservatism by "moderating". New Yorkers are taxed way too much yet they keep electing their leftist libs. Go figure....I hail from NY but glad I am gone from there.

These "Rockefeller Republicans" have not realized that the nation changed. The blue-blood political ideology was forged in the era of the New Deal when the nation was highly unionized, government was seen as the solution, and Democrats could actually be trusted with the defense of this country. All that has changed, and the "Rockefeller Republican" ideology, which successfully held the party together through the FDR years, must now be retired.

This is similar to the 1880's when the "Old Guard" Radical Republicans were pushed out by the industrialists.

Yeah, I also served 30 years in the military and will vote for liberals too. These types of stories are is so full of feces that any newsmedia who runs it should be sued for libel.
