A CBS spokeswoman says correspondent Kimberly Dozier has undergone two surgeries since being injured in a car bombing Monday in Iraq.
Doctors have removed shrapnel from her head, but they say the most series injuries are to her lower body. Dozier is being treated in Germany. The blast in Baghdad killed British cameraman Paul Douglas and freelance soundman James Brolan. Military officials say Dozier will be treated at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, which is the U.S. military's largest overseas hospital. CBS says all three journalists were riding in an armored humvee and are believed to have been wearing protective gear. The U.S. ambassador to Iraq says he's "shocked and saddened" by the news. CBS News President Sean McManus says "our deepest sympathy" goes to the families of Douglas and Brolan.
Best Wishes to her.
The writer actually wrote "SERIES injuries"? He must read FR!
Is she related to Li'l Abner?
Well said. And let's hope out of this disaster some enlightenment comes to her.
Is this Sirius?
Part of the problem is the that MSM thinks they have a higher calling than that of a lawyer, doctor, priest, or nun. In their minds, bullets should whizz around them, but never touch them, for they are "journalists". They report the "news", and they correct the wrongs caused by "conservatives". But I'm betting you'll never see CBS News President Sean McManus in Iraq. Greatest would he ever had was splinter from a toothpick when he was trying to eat the olives in his martinin glass while on the cocktail circuit.
"but we should never rejoice that someone is hurt in war unless they are monsters. "
I am not rejoicing in the fact that she is injured. Although, I do question the intelligence of "embedding" reporters in military and those that go along with it. I will not buy into the hype of a reporter getting killed when it happens to our soldiers everyday.
I do wish for her a speedy recovery and hope that she comes back 100% but leave the occupation of war zones to our soldiers...
My prayers are with her for a complete recovery and condolences to the families of the others who were killed in the attack by the _____________.
a) terrorists
b) freedom fighters
c) EU approved nomenclature
You get the Tacky Award for the day. Or the year.
Well thank you.. I will graciously accept that.
Sadly,
I think the press thinks the sign on their vests protects them. It is just a better target for the terorists.
Aren't they a satellite radio company?
I think the press thinks the sign on their vests protects them.
I did hear a commentator from her network mention that
"This war is different." Guess he doesn't remember Ernie Pyle, or any number of brave correspondents who were killed
in WW II., Korea, Vietnam etc.
Personally, I think if a news person wants to enter the war zone embedding should be mandatory at least part of the time.
And they don't even know the difference between serious and series. Public school! You get what you pay for.
Don't you understand this? That was then, when we had the right to fight evil dictators wherever we found them, and the American press was always pro-America! Now we have anti-war activists posing as serious news reporters and we aren't allowed to fight evil, even though most of us know that it will eventually kill us if we don't!
