I fully understand that feeling. But do you know, or have you really reflected on, what it is that these guys go through that is so destructive of their ability to judge and control their actions?
Cause living as a marine in Iraq, having IED's go off right in your face, watching your best friends die, torn to pieces, really messes up your head.
Let's get real. Whether the Marines are guilty or not is irrelevant. The purpose for this story is to (1) get the Muzzies all riled up to kill more Americans. (2) Get the 'RATS their "powah" back. (3) Help the sagging sales of the new Ditzy Chicks CD. (4) Help Fat Jack Murtha restore his public image after trashing our troops.
I agree about the state of the MArines who may have done this and what might have led them to it...
BUT
That is no excuse for actions like this. Otherwise, why can't Jihadists use the same excuses to justify their decent into horror? (ie having lost relatives, land, houses, children, jobs, hope, etc)
If an action is wrong, it's wrong. We can pity the perpetrator because we know what pushed them that far, but the action stuill requires punishment.
Of course, we still need to wait for all the evidence to come in which is why my statements are based on proof being supplied.
My husband is a 1st Sgt in the US Army is now serving in Iraq. He runs a tight ship.
If anything like this happened on his watch, he do everything in his power to crucify the soldiers responsible.
I also doubt the accuracy of the story, but time will tell. If some of our guys are found guilty, they *will* suffer the consequences.
The folks in our military are average Americans. The vast majority are very good people. They get just as upset as we do (probably more) when other service members screw up. It's like the cop that despises dirty cops. Something like this casts a taint across their entire lives.

Well said! I've never served in the military, but it doesn't take the brains of a rocket scientist for me to understand what must go through the minds of our soldiers while patrolling in an urban war zone, not knowing friend from foe. From the beginning of this war, we should have cleared out the Islamofacist strongholds (such as Fallujah and Haditha) and leveled them all! Destroying the enemy and keeping them on the defensive is the only way to win this war, or any war.
