His brother's approval ratings are in the cellar, and that whole dynasty thing doesn't help. But don't underestimate Jeb Bush's prospects as a future presidential contender, says former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Probably '08 is a little bit tricky, but " '12 or '16 isn't. And he's a young enough guy (53) that he has a great future," Gingrich said on the Political Connections television show airing today on Bay News 9. "I just think his natural, personal ability is so great that people are going to realize he is not his father and he's not his brother. He's a very unique, charismatic leader with extraordinary capabilities. ... Jeb Bush may well be the most innovative (governor) in the entire country."
Gingrich taped the interview after headlining a recent fundraiser for state Rep. Gus Bilirakis' campaign to succeed his father in Congress. He addressed everything from his fears that Republican loyalists won't turn out heavily in November to congressional intervention in the Terri Schiavo case (reasonable idea, clumsily executed) to Florida being a competitive but Republican-leaning state.

More proof that Gingrich is part of the problem and not the solution.
No time soon. But I think 4 years of a Democratic President might get us yearning for the good ole days when W was President.
Unless Newt is thinking Jeb and his wife could help bring back the Hispanic vote...
Jeb is the best Governor in the country and we'd be damn lukcy to ever get him as Prez.
I've always thought that Newt was a great "behind the scenes" organizer for the GOP. But as soon as he is the "public face" of anything he looks foolish. If he wasn't so egotistical, he would have declined the Speaker position back in 95 in favor of someone who could work better with the minority. In a lot of ways he is almost a GOP version of Ted Kennedy.
Horse pucky
No thank you, no more bushes.
Yup...or 4 years of a RINO like McCain.
Jeb might be a shoe-in after such an awful time.
I'm sorry, but which alternative universe are you living in.
Newt has made mistakes, but to compare him to Ted "Swimmer" Kennedy is almost a crime
The two Bush's we have had were unmitigated disasters. I am not going to vote for another one.
I worry about his position against drilling off the coast of Florida.

I agree.
Dear wagglebee,
I wasn't happy with how Gov. Bush handled the Terri Schiavo tragedy, either. I lost a great deal of respect for him during that time.
Nonetheless, I would vote for Gov. Bush to be president over any Democrat any day of any week.

"In a lot of ways he is almost a GOP version of Ted Kennedy."
hmm, Ted K. is polarizing, but the most influential Democrat legislator in the Senate.
Maybe we need Gingrich back in the senate.
(The one on the right)
You prefer more Clintons instead?
Now you've done it. Excuse me while I take a cold shower.
I was referring to his polarizing effect and inability to work with the 'Rats.
Yeah, have to agree. GWH was a limp noodle. W started strong with the aid of a simple circumstance (9/11), but has since fizzled and even gone in the opposite direction on numerous issues.
I think I'll pass on W. I wouldn't even vote for him in primaries if he were to run again. He'd only be a "vote of no" for any Dim otherwise.
