The reality is, OBL hates us just as much as he hates his brethren running the KSA, and if you believe the BS you are spewing I invite you to actually take your sorry ass over to Afghanistan/Pakistan and see for yourself how your theories hold up to reality. I'm not glossing over or dodging anything. Your specious "question" is irrelevant. Prior to 1990/1991 there was no time for him to do anything as his organization was only beginning. OBL is an opportunist, and more importantly, a recruiter, first and foremost. He is also a megalomaniac. He thought HE could be the "defender" of KSA against SH but was very upset when he found out nobody considered him capable of defending an outhouse. He used his indignance to start his recruiting drive amongst some of the most extreme nutbars the world has to offer. Fortunately for us, the bulk of muslims did not buy into his Wahabbi extremism outside of Waziristan and Eastern Afghanistan like they would have in centuries past.

You seem quick to buy into his recruiting spiel, as are most of the liberals/cowards in the world who will do or say anything to avoid "conflict".

In the end, our reason for being in the KSA during GW1 were not to "keep them on the throne" as your asinine assumption insists. Try thinking about the world economy for a moment and the ramifications if SH was given free reign in the KSA oil fields. This had nothing to do with OBL vs Fahd. It had everything to do with keeping another megalomaniac from running rampant in the ME. You discard that rationale at the expense of sanity, IMO.

After the Soviets left Afghanistan, OBL got a swollen head and so began his megalomania. Using the excuse of our troops being in the KSA gave him a powerful recruiting tool, but that's all it was useful for at the time. His organization was always going to be considered a fringe element unless he unloaded against the big dog, the US. Consider the reality behind that truism. You have your cause and effects jammed in reverse.

Gee, it sure seems you have the antiwar/liberal talking points down pat. Don't be so quick to place the blame on the "white man", as there is plenty of "blame" to go around in NA and the ME.
