UK troops seize weapons in Basra [Iraq]

British forces in Iraq say they have seized a large cache of weapons and bomb-making equipment in Basra. Troops from the Queen's Royal Hussars believe they found enough material to make dozens of explosives. One device was disguised as roadside debris.

This month two UK soldiers died after a similar device went off and a patrol narrowly missed being hit on Sunday.

The find comes as President Jalal Talabani calls on Iraq's new government to improve security in Basra.

This seems as appropriate a place as I'm going to find and certainly the appropriate day to relay this from the Patriot Post:

""These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier
and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the
service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the
love and thanks of man and woman."

-- Thomas Paine (The American Crisis, No. 1, 19 December 1776)"

True and beautiful words. Here are some thoughts from another famous American:

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot." -- Mark Twain

America has many Patriots fighting for Freedom today, and in every corner of the world! GOD bless them all!!!

The new government is hard at work, along with our troops. Things are still dicey, (explosions in Baghdad late last night and again early this morning) but improving all along.

You WON'T hear this in the MSM. They refuse to report the improved situation around here.

Thank you for your kind words and I hope you're having a relaxing Memorial Day.

It has its good times and its bad times, but I wouldn't trade this for anything right now. I'm honored to be a small part of this mission.
