Was there any other assembly, or senators to refrain from attending? Well he implied in the article that he asked others to join him. He didn't say if any did. It appears to me he didn't get the publicity he wanted so he wrote the article to explain questions that never were asked.

There was plenty of press coverage--several of those articles were posted at FR.
