I've always believed that Allen shouldn't run for re-election. Soon after 2006 everybody's going to be gearing up for 2008. Better to take some months off, spend some time with the family, formulate policy and take some trips through the heartland. It's not like the Senate is in danger of losing its Republican majority, since one exists in name only.

We need him in the Senate and he's not yet the frontrunner for Prez.
