Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore have some of the toughest immigration policies on the planet, they hardly ever let in ANY illegal immigrants at all, and they have been some of the most successful economies on the planet in the past 40 years.

If we can get the otherwise non-criminal illegal alien issue taken care of, the tiny minority of illegal aliens we ALL want to keep out (e.g. terrorists, gang-members, cocaine smugglers, rapists, murderers, etc.) could be caught easier. Our GDP is because of open-borders, not in spite of it. If you don't think China and India are a long-term threat to the U.S. economically (and therefore militarily someday), you are sorely mistaken.

One of the only things more tiresome than single issue voters is Californian's complaining about life in California. If life in California sucks so bad, tell the folks in your state to stop voting for democrats like Feinstein and Boxer. A state that has reliably voted for the Democrat Presidential candidate for almost 20 years doesn't give much of an indication it is interested in changing the liberal balance of the Federal Courts. Meanwhile illegals streaming into your state seem to find ready employment in your state's industries...or else they would stream elsewhere. You are making your own bed...you can lie in it.

OBTW, when was the last time you were ever in South Korea, Taiwan or Singapore? One of the reasons they have successful economies is because the actively participate in the world economy. And all three of those countries have a very healthy and large immigrant population. It just happens to be a little harder for illegals to cross their borders considering two are islands, and the other shares its single border with a communist fortress that won't let its people eat nevermind migrate.
