Good points...I hadn't thought of that...
I am just trying to figure out if there is someone on the horizon that isn't a Senator or House member...that could sneak up on the dems...
So far, almost all of the candidates on both sides, are sitting or ex-Senators...YIKES!
From the way the Senate has been acting the last few years, I wouldn't want any Senator, (with the exception of perhaps, Sessions, Cornyn, or Kyl)...they all seem to already think they are too powerful.
Ex-Governors seem to make good POTUS candidates, but Jeb is out..and I don't know of any conservative Governors, do you?
George Allen was Governor of Virginia from '94 to '98 before being elected to the Senate in 2000. He also was elected as a Congressman in a special election in '91, filling out the term of Congressman Slaughter, who had resigned. He didn't run for re-election but ran for the governors post instead.
So far I like what I've seen and heard, with some minor qualms. Of course, at this point in 1990 I liked what I had seen and heard about Bill Clinton, so I'm keeping my powder dry...
