I don't understand.
Sensenbrenner is doing a pretty good job with this interview
I just started the thread, but I wanted to thank you for your hard work on that post.
If no bill comes out, Senators who voted no for the current Senate bill will claim they were protecting their voters from a bad bill, and Senators who voted for the current Senate bill will claim they did what they could to get a fix to the immigration problem rolling. Of course immigration is a national issue, but as we've already touched on, Congressional politics are local, and the Senators already voted with their constituents in mind. The calculations have already been done. I fully expect no immigration bill will pass this year. But that doesn't matter in Congressional elections decided at the local level.
Wow, Kristol says that the reason Chris Shays' constitutants don't want an amnesty a/k/a path to citizenship is because they are wealthy and they like hiring cheap labor which they can get because they are illegals. Nice slur on folks from Connecticut.
ref post #69, Hagel probably has been getting flack from his constituents for his bash Bush/Republican Party all the time jaunts seeking favor with the MSM/DNC. I am sure more than one of those voters have probably told him that they will not support his re-election if he keeps up the negative tirades. He probably looked more sheepish(he always looks that way)than usual making a good point especially when there was no segue' into that statement. Would someone please tell this man to shut up and go away.............Puleeze!
All of the House is up for election and only one third of the Senate. Illegal immigration will be an issue in many of the races. Depending upon the district or state, the challengers will try to use the issue against the incumbent. Both the Senate and the House members have voted with their constituencies in mind. Others like McCain, Hagel, and others see it as an issue for 2008. They are pandering to the growing Hispanic vote.
Morning cardinal4. Welcome to the fray.
Bill Kristol=weasel
Check that
Bill Kristol=effete weasel snob elitist
John Warner is one of them, plain and simple. Speaking of "them". It is with a heavy heart I awoke this morning. My best friend in the world, best man at my wedding, a guy I have known since 1978, last night revealed that he and his wife are "them". It was striking because of the venom they spewed about Corporations, "Domestic Spying", (I almost choked on that one) and the war. These are good, decent people seduced by the Seattle PI and CNN. I knew better than to push it, but it really bothers me that CNN and the NYT have come between us..
Hagel will be the featured speaker at the Colorado Lincoln Day dinner. One, it will be interesting to learn how much flak he gets, and two it will be interesting to see how many people decide to skip the dinner this year.
Someone will have to let me know because I'm not going.
So far, he always acts like he needs the Democrats' approval before he does anything.
It is worth noting that of the three major Sunday talk shows, only MTP had someone on [Sensenbrenner] who does not support the Senate bill. The MSM will try to push the Senate bill down our throat.
ref post #70, Hagel is right about America having full employment, but that gives employers no chance to fire employees that stink up the place on the job. If the Employee is lazy, cops an attitude, does not show up a lot, takes off early or comes in late,is rude to customers, there is practically nowhere in the Country except Michigan where there would be People lining up for those jobs if the Employer fires these "Users of Oxygen". If they fire the goof-off and hire someone else, they may turn out to be worse than the goof-off, so they are afraid to fire them. Hagel is pretty much wrong on everything else, and he is helping to start a Civil War.
Murtha coming up on This Weak. I don't know if I can take it, but I'll give it a try.
Ill start the paperwork on your Purple Heart and Combat Pay..
Murtha always sounds so hysterical. He mentions Pace but doesn't exactly accuse him of the coverup.
Here in OC, CA it's hilarious to watch candidates outdo each other with rabid anti-illegal pledges & claims.
An endorsement from Gilchrist is like pure gold!
