House GOP draws line on immigration

WASHINGTON -- House Republican leaders yesterday refused to yield on immigration, insisting that any bill to emerge from upcoming House-Senate negotiations will contain no provisions for undocumented immigrants to become citizens.

House leaders' refusal to budge could make President Bush's goal of passing comprehensive immigration reform impossible to achieve this year. Senate leaders, backed by Bush, favor a plan to allow some undocumented immigrants to apply for guest worker visas, but they contend that denying such workers an eventual path to citizenship could create a permanent underclass.

Teddy, Teddy.....put the bottle down and step away from the microphone.

Yup, either Teddy's brain is fried from all that booze or he's got a screw loose. Calling for more massive illegal alien demonstrations is pretty dumb on his part, although I actually hope they do it since it'll help tremendously the patriot's side in the House.

But Kennedy expressed hope that massive public demonstrations by immigrants can work in tandem with pressure from Bush, McCain, and other conservatives to persuade skeptical House Republicans to support a bill that's closer to the Senate approach.

ROTFLOL..  I think conservatives know now what McCain is, and they are beginning to understand that Bush, like his father, is a Rockefeller Republican.

So you want two standards of law one for Christians and one for others? And what happens if someone suggests amnesty just for Muslims? the knife has two edges...

``Dark clouds are forming on the horizon," Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada, said of the possibility that House leaders will gut the Senate's immigration bill. ``In any great action movie, there's a final scene where the leading man or woman saves the day. It's now that time for President Bush."

Reid is a real slimeball. Dubya is really being set up this one. If the House caves and shamnesty passes, Conservatives- like me- are going to go ballistic. If the reform package fails, Reid and the rest of the vermin will cry that Bush is to blame for not bringing his own party into line. Pretty sweet for the Dim's, huh? They can't defend the nation or even come up with solutions; but those drones can sure throw rocks, can't they?

Limbaugh said the other day that the senators that voted against it, contrary to what one expect of them, are up
for re-election against strong challengers.

Sheets and Stabmenow, among others, from what I recall.

McCain thinks about ways that he can thumb his nose at America, and how much attention he'll get from the LSM.

Maybe I wasn't the only one to write my congressman and say, no amnesty or I won't vote for you.

There is a powerful win-win scenario for the President. If the bill is delayed into the new Congress, because the Dems think they can take the House and open the border completely, then the base can galvanize and turn out in record numbers to be DAMN SURE the GOP holds the House at least and maybe Senate too.

This would preclude impeachment.

That's a viable strategy. Just delay it to the next Congress. Then we have no choice but to make sure the GOP holds the House. Everyone will show up to vote that way.

And as for having no sympathy for the Senate RINOs, we won't have anything to say about that because of the large number of GOP senators running, only 3 are RINOs. Staying away from the Senate would hurt only conservative Senators.

"Past time for Teddy's liver to do it's duty."

When Teddy's liver does its duty, I'm hoping/wondering if the family puts it up for bid on E-bay. Imagine the shipping charges though, something of that size.
