My military career was the single greatest thing I've done in my life (excluding accepting the Lord and marrying my wife). Having spent the previous 3 1/2 years wasting my time partying through college (I woke up in a Microeconomics class and asked "why am I here"), my life took a dramatic turn during this period. I learned very marketable skills; I learned discipline; I learned to trust in myself and what I could do; and I grew to love my country as never before.

The battle group I served in in 1983-84 was responsible for settling some scores in Beirut and taking out some terrorists on a now nonexistent hill overlooking the evacuation runway in Lebanon. I was fortunate to serve in Reagan's military and experienced the surge in pride and morale that took place in all of the armed forces serving under the best President in U.S. history.

Yes, I get a little excited about this period of my life....
