Right. The original article said the media is "salivating" over this. They actually want it to rise to the level of an "atrocity" so the trial is moved to the Hague, Nurenburg, or some other such bastion of justice, where the only way out is to die od old age (i.e. Milosovic).

"Right. The original article said the media is "salivating" over this."
I expect them to be all quite disapointed once the Marines are vindicated from the charges.

I didn't want to say anything about this media event, but there is a lot of speculation and it is getting off into uncharted terrain. The media is going crazy over this. They know nothing and are extrapolating as far as their agendas allow. Too much 'what if.'

People like Chris Matthews and keith Olberman of the ratings pit that is MSNBC will spend weeks continuing to urinate and defecate on the troops that they pretend to care about.
THE DEAD FAILURE REPORT lives on. Where on soldiers who DIE or "SCREW UP" have the propaganda value worthy enough of top of the fold MSM headlines.
Soldiers good works are irrelevant to those who pray for more to die.

In spite of the media hoping for another My Lai, what actually happened hasn't been established yet. At the very least, the accused marines should be given a chance to tell their side of the story.

sure, they just remained frozen in the kneeling position after the Marines shot them - long enough to be photographed.

It was, reportedly, a previously planned trip.

"Another point of dispute is whether some houses were destroyed by fire or by airstrikes. Some Iraqis reported that the Marines burned houses in the area of the attack, but two people familiar with the case, including Hackett, the lawyer, said warplanes conducted airstrikes, dropping 500-pound bombs on more than one house.
That is significant for any possible court-martial proceedings, because it would indicate that senior commanders, who must approve such strikes and who would also use aircraft to assess their effects, were paying attention to events in Haditha that day."
Imagine that, senior commanders were paying attention to events in Haditha. I can't imagine why these Marines didn't just drag their dead brother back to the base of operation and eat supper.

You gotta ask yourself: Why would you lurch in that direction, Dave??? Why??? Do you WANT it to be true, or something? Because "reporters" like Carl seem to believe it's not responsible for other reporters to report on this until charges have been made or people convicted in a court marital. You make a big ASSumption. You seem to think I want it to be true. I don't. But I'm not so ignorant as to believe that our guys never do wrong. Look at how damage the bitch and her buddies at Abu Garab created for the US.

"...they are still victimized. Their careers are over. There will be no promotions or commands for them."
Not to mention all the other Marines, etc., who remain in Haditha and have sacrificed so much to clear that area of a viscious insurgency.

"In fact, the picture it paints is of a panicked platoon rushing into a house, shooting everyone in sight then going to the next house."
Try a new pair of glasses. I didn't see panicked. I saw pissed.

"They know nothing and are extrapolating as far as their agendas allow."
And obviously we understand how far they can go. The L/MSM need a truly strong awakening call. In the case of the misinformation on the NSA request to major telephone companies to provide a record may be one of the things that will backfire on them. Unless the majority of Americans have actually reached a level where we could classify them as morons, surely more people are attempting via. polls etc., to express their disatification with the L/MSM. As one poll we saw some months back indicated.
In this case discussed here. Once the Marines are freed of any wrong doing, the L/MSM will not respond other then the typical 20 second quickies on world news channels.
Perhaps a few rags will write up some half @ss articles that still don't quite get it, but people will wonder, why the deal really was if they do not hear about court martials coming to past.
Not much we can do about it. Newspaper budsmen etc., probably have little effect. The L/MSM are institutionalize as you well know, to work toward electing far left, liberal politicians into office to meet their agendas.
Sadly. The L/MSM and associated rags have reached the point where they see they can get away with just about anything. Americans have such a short memory span. They are to worried about the stupid battery in their cell phones not being charged, so they can walk out into traffic oblivious to the world with the phone stuck on their ear.
The brave new world has come upon us. Knowledge has such a terrible price to bear.
But we cannot give up. To many good kids out there that can see what the deal is once given a chance and adequate time to explore the possibilities of not letting things go totally under.
What was that verse in Jules Verne's novel ....
There is hope within God's time...

Perhaps they were relieved because too many of their men were dying.
