It is my understanding that many wind farm proposals for power generating plants are uneconomic - meaning they do not pay there way, even if they were subsidized.
Regarding foreign oil, the bulk of foreign and domestic oil is used for fuel for cars, planes, etc. Only a fraction, less than 5%, goes into power plants.
IMO, wind farms are window dressing and band aids for the environmentalists. Until they look too close and then complain of birds getting killed.
Perhaps you and I can look at the cost numbers in say five or ten years if they ever build a set out on the Cape.... ;)
