If as a result of this foot dragging and lack of decisiveness on the part of the U.S. attorney's office Ms. McKinney gets off, it's going to have a chilling effect on rank-and-file law enforcement in the District of Columbia."

That would mean ANYONE can punch a cop and get away with it. Not good...

This jury is DISGUSTING!! There are WITNESSES!!!Or is Dennis Hastert stopping this investigation? Maybe Bush put a 45 day hold on it.

Let's stop kidding ourselves. Nothing will happen. As usual, the political way is to stall, stall, stall, until it is dead.

You are quite right, nothing will happen to her. The same goes for William Jefferson (D) Louisiana. Why hasn't he been arrested? Why?

""Right now there is a pending investigation. These things take time to ensure that there is a fair result and that justice is done," Burchell said."

"we're going to drag this out until the complaining officer dies of old age"

When I lived in D.C., Sen. Shelby had an intern who was brutally murdered in a racist attack. The black perp, witnesses testified, said something to the effect that he was going to kill a white boy...then proceeded to shoot the intern for no reason except that he was white. Jury nullification. The murderer walked.

Saw a student's backpack get stolen near Union Station. He chased down the thief, and during the scuffle to retrieve his backpack, he kicked the thief. The thief was black. The witnesses were all black. The two police who arrived were black. The debate centered on whether the student should be arrested for assaulting the thief...not whether the thief should be arrested. The only thing that kept the student from being arrested was the fact that he was a Georgetown law student and made it perfectly clear that a world of sh$t would rain down on the police if they did it.

I do not expect McKinney to be indicted in the land of Marion Berry. The justice system is fatally broken in D.C.

Why won't the charges in the Duke University rape case be dropped?

The answer to both questions is the same.

Diplomatic immunity. Its as if Cynthia is a diplomat from a foreign country. From my point of view she is.

Since we let UN diplomats and their families violate a host of laws with impunity, why not Cynthia Moonbat?

(Actually, I like consistency in the application of law; I would be for doing away with a good number of the diplomatic immunity laws...)

Why hasn't [Jefferson] been arrested? Why?
Why won't the charges in the Duke University rape case be dropped?
The answer to both questions is the same.

Prosecutors are probably terrified that Jefferson and McKinney will invoke the race card if they are arrested.

If this is a DC grand jury, it is all black. What do you expect. These are racist charges brought against an honorable black woman jsut defending herself from a racist pig. /sar

Maybe Nifong should go up to DC--he can get an indictment yesterday-no evidence required.

""The only thing that distinguishes this case from cases all over the country every single day of the year was that the alleged perpetrator was a Congresswoman. ..."

Big difference. Congress, and Senate critters are above the law.

Hadn't been following the news on this, but I'd be surprized if there were an entrance to the capitol which was not under recorded video surveillance. Has there been any mention of security video of the incident?

Actually, perhaps this will force them to SHOOT any congress critter that refuses to "HALT" on demand...

Three rapid "HALTS" in order-- and shoot the miscreants.

I believe there is a video tape of the incident, and that it was either sequestered or "lost" immediately after the incident.
