Swann alleges Rendell camp thwarts would-be donors By The Associated Press
Friday, May 26, 2006
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Republican gubernatorial hopeful Lynn Swann said Friday that some of his supporters are not contributing to his campaign because people in the Rendell administration or the governor's campaign have indicated it could jeopardize their state contracts or grants.
"His party machinery is out there putting the squeeze on people, saying 'don't contribute to Swann's campaign,"' Swann told The Associated Press in his first extended interview with a Pennsylvania news organization.

I guess it's up to Freepers to fund it then.
I wouldn't put that past the current administration.
That's odd.
That's criminal blackmail.

Of course Rendell is engaged in dirty tactics. Wasn't he the Governor who didn't count the military votes in Pennsy for the 04 election?
I know he was involved in some hijinks there.
Lynn Swann vs. a 'standard issue' liberal politician? No contest!
My money, quite literally, is on Swann.
i definitely wouldnt put it past rendell to do something like this. but swann needs to have some proof of this or it might look bad.
Can somebody close to this situation tell me why Swann seems to be trailing by significant margins in every poll Ive seen? You would think his sports hero status would be worth something, at least in Pittsburgh. Add in the race issue in Philly, and the Republican thing in the burbs. What gives?
ads - rendell has been running them day and night on tv. if it werent for the occasional column in the paper, you wouldnt even know there was a republican in the race. swann has been mia.
unfortnately a poorly run campaign, poor strategy, poor fundraising period, i am a long time republican, former staffer of the campaigns of Santorum and Bush, in fact all the way back to the campaign days of Reagan having recently made the flip to column/political reporting... and i have never seen anything like what this campaign has failed to accomplish, it is embarrassing, if you want to read my column on it, the one that made many republicans mad at me click onto the link below, probably piss off a lot of freepers as well...i really wanted him to win and he cant with this team that is running him
