Lance Cpl. Jacob A. Lamb, a motor transport operator with 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion deployed to Al Qa’im, Iraq, became the one millionth Moto Mail recipient April 24, 2006, and was given several gift certificates and a care package from a Marine postal officer to mark the occassion. ‘Moto’ is short for ‘motivation,’ and it’s what U.S. servicemembers like Lamb use as a means to keep contact with friends and family back home. This roughly two-year old program allows U.S. servicemembers deployed overseas to receive printed letters from home in less than 24 hours. Lamb, who enlisted in the Marine Corps more than two years ago, says that without Moto Mail he would probably not find out about “everyday regular things” that go on back home. “It feels good to know what’s going on and I can choose to respond the same day I get the letters,” said Lamb, whose job in Iraq includes building fortified battle positions, emplacing security barriers and improving living quarters for U.S. Service members and Iraqi Security forces. Lamb is a 22-year-old from Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Moto mail is so cool. Used it to keep in touch with son while he was in the sandbox - worked great. web-email to him in printed from never took more than 2 days.

Gotta love technology!
