Reiner throws down another $1.6 million for Prop. 82
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | May 25, 2006

With polls showing that his Prop. 82 universal preschool measure is carrying a narrow lead into the final days before the June 6 election, actor/director Rob Reiner put another $1.65 million of his own money into the campaign today. So far this year, Reiner already had spent better than $1.15 million on the campaign, which has also collected about $1.3 million from his wife, Michelle Singer Reiner, and $500,000 from his father, comedian Carl Reiner.

Prop. 82, which would hike taxes on wealthy California residents to provide free preschool for all the state's 4-year-olds, had a 50 percent to 43 percent lead in a poll released today by the Public Policy Institute of California.

Remember, with the housing prices in this state, you're going to be one of the 'rich' as soon as you sell your appreciated home.

Super! Just in time so that I can pay for the preschooling of the 12 million children of the illegal immigrants living in this state.

Just think what your child can learn in a homosexual madrasas.

Excerpts fron an article that originally appeared in the November-December 2004 issue of the Children's Advocate, published by Action Alliance for Children.

Two mommies? Two daddies?
Helping lesbian and gay families feel visible and welcome in preschool programs
By Andrea Hernandez

"I hate having two mommies," the little girl told her friend.

"Why?" the friend asked.
"Because I hate it when the teacher says, 'Take this home to your mom and dad!'"

"Most child care programs are kind of oblivious to the concerns (of lesbian or gay parents)," says Judy Kriege, technical assistant at BANANAS, a Bay Area child care resource and referral organization.

But that creates problems for their kids, says Lesser: "(When) teachers talk about the world and you're excluded, it gives the message that there's something wrong with your family,"
Creating LGBT-friendly early childhood programs may be more difficult outside gay-friendly San Francisco. Central Valley Head Start child care coordinator Amy Mauro says many people in rural communities "don't believe (lesbian and gay parents) really exist in their area." Some child care providers, says Giarretto, may shy away from raising the issue for fear of offending other parents-or gay parents themselves.

But even if a child care program has no openly LGBT families, Mauro says, it's important to talk about all types of families: "Just because there's no (openly) gay parents in their center doesn't mean they're not going to meet children with gay parents later on, or become gay themselves."

And "what we do in early childhood affects a child's elementary school experience," says Pacific Primary teacher Brian Silveira. He recalls learning in the schoolyard that "it wasn't OK to be a 'faggot.'" That lesson became painful later on, "when I came to the realization that I was gay."

Early childhood programs, Silveira says, can build more positive attitudes because "we get (children) before they've experienced a lot of homophobia."

The federal income tax started out as a strictly "soak the rich" measure too, affecting about 1% of the population at its inception before WWI. That soon changed. All the fools who congratulate themselves that the government is taxing somebody else for their benefit will realize that the leftists can and will always re-define who "the rich" are to include everybody with any property at all. But by then it's too late.

The left is desperate to gain control over the children.

It has found that adults reject their warped world view -- and teach our children ideas which it considers an anathema.

Parents who teach their children to worship God, love America and be self-sufficient are hindering the Marxist" progress" the left is attempting to force on America.

So the left's solution? Take control of the children and shape their beliefs before the teaching parents gain hold.

The left keeps reaching for younger and younger children as its plot continues to be thwarted by God fearing, patriotic families.

Stop meathead and his grab for our kids.

Enough of this "but it's for the children" BS. The system we have works just fine. I have a 4 year old and he is NOT in preschool. He's getting more attention and education while at home with his mother. If people want their kids in preschool, they should PAY for it. If they can't afford it, then they shouldn't have HAD kids in the first place. How about some personal responsibility for the PARENTS?

So far, I have seen more anti 82 ads on TV. These polls in CA need to be taken with a grain of salt. If Reiner was really ahead by that margin, I don't think he would be dropping more of his money into it.

ONCE A MEATHEAD, ALWAYS A MEATHEAD.....

Any Kalifornia registered voter who votes for this tripe deserves whatever it costs them.
The public schools in the Los Angeles school district spend almost $9900/student now, and they are putting illiterate d"students" out into the "workforce" for those of us who are employers to deal with.

It is a total travesty, and now that jerk wants to get these kids into "free education" even earlier.
What does it take to get this Commie 6 feet under??????

I didn't know there was that much money in being a meathead.

What's chilling about it? A public school must accommodate everyone. You might not like homosexuals but children should be able to attend school without suffering inhumane indignities far outside their control.

Do you know what preschool costs? It's not always a luxury item.

My niece (adopted) has shown to be developmentally disabled because her egg donor was a drug addict. She's been getting the attention of a full-time mom for three years. She might benefit from preschool but there isn't the income for $800/month or an extra $3000 year for some of those programs. She doesn't qualify for Head Start or public preschool programs.

Even disposed to be sympathetic to the need, I still voted NO on Prop 82.

I have nothing against homosexuals. What's chilling about the article is the revelation that the gay political agenda has even penetrated pre-school. Four year olds don't need to be indoctrinated with "GLBT friendly" attitudes before they even know what normal sexuality is.
