Memorial Day
Too many people just see Memorial Day an an excuse for a cookout.
My heartfelt thanks goes out to all of our men and women who died in service of their country.
They deserve our deepest gratitude and respect.
I'll be at the Ft. Snelling ceremony. In years past, Senator Wellstone used to grandstand at the Memorial Day event. The last year he was alive, he actually tried to stretch the observance of military sacrifice into approval for his social programs. His applause was sparse and many were totally silent. He was killed that fall. I wonder if any of the fallen veterans he used to co-opt have straightened out his politics on the other side...
Thank you, veterans, each and every one for your sacrifices and service. Monday I'll go pay my respects to the ones that aren't around anymore.
