"whoever ends up as the nominee will choose Obama as the VP running mate. I believe they think that choosing him will ensure a Democrat win."
What difference would that make? The Dems already get 90% of the black vote.

"...with finger raised like an Old Testament prophet, he bellows (about Bush) "HE BETRAYED THIS COUNTRY!!!!" - all the GOP would have to do is to run that clip over and over and Gore would be finished."
I was wondering when someone was going to realize that. I thought the same thing earlier.

"No dim will be president in 2008."
Everyone seems to forget that Al Gore rec'd the most votes in 2000 and the Prez would have lost to Kerry in '04 if 32,000 GOP voters in Ohio had changed their mind and voted for Kerry.
Don't underestimate the stupidity of the American voter.

Gore vs. Hillary...can't wait to watch that catfight. And Lurch along for comic relief! Should be fun.
I suspect that the press will seek to destroy Lurch out of the gate, as they won't want him slowing Gore or Hillary's momentum. I bet the press will finally run with the story of Kerry's unreleased military records this time, just to get him out of the way quickly.
It's so obvious that not only is Gore going to be a candidate, he's already running a 2-hour campaign ad (an inconvenient truth) in Metroplexes all over the country and (dumb) people are going to PAY to see it. That's actually pretty clever. They'll even run it on TV and since Gore's "not a candidate" there won't be any equal-time rules. I think someone smarter than Gore must have come up with that...

To be brief, no Dem will win in 2008 because America simply won't elect an a$$hole to the office of the President.
I wouldn't put all my chips on that, after all - Americans DID elect the abysmal Carter and the depraved Emperor Billigula didn't they?
True, Carter can lay claim to being a true a**hole, while Clinton was most assuredly a phallus-head, so there is a slight anatomical difference in those two past aberrations.

When we were kids, we'd catch grasshoppers. If you squeeze them ever so slightly, they would give off a little brown substance that we called "tobacco". I thought every kid did that... We'd catch them, make them "give tobacco" and then turn them loose and go catch another one.
Childhood was a constant hunt for little critters to play with, horned toads, turtles, frogs, whatever you could find. We never hurt them, although I'm sure they had better things to do than entertain us.

True enough. On more than one occasion I have been shocked by it. I will stand by my prediction though. What the Dims really are about is on display now far more so than in 04 and I think more people see it then ever before. That said the pubbies have to take advantage of it which apparently they are neither intelligent enough nor courageous enough to do. We shall see.

Attention span. They are generous.
Don't get me wrong, I like what I know of Allen's positions on issues. He seems like a real conservative to me. But selling him to a country that has never heard of him and isn't long on attention to politics, except when current events force something to the front of their limited list of concerns, will not be easy. So is there a hook? A plan? A slogan? A reason that can be boiled down to a water-cooler length comment?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Its a little early for bumper stickers, but he is conservative, southern enough, and electable. The RATS already fear him and have been writing articles to try to smear him.
Expect to hear more from Allen in early 2007. He is up for Senate reelection in Nov., you can't expect to hear much from him about running in 2008 until thats over.

Fine, but who steps up to stop Bush and this illigal alien bill. Hillary could not do worse.

Lost in translation. If there is any original in which it makes any sense.
