Last time I visited Charleston, SC I went out to the beach. Sure enough, the ocean was lashing the shore, pretty good waves, too! Last week I visited family in Phoenix, AZ. Was I surprised to learn that the desert was hot!

This particularly silly one greeted readers of a recent issue of Playboy Magazine. The article was, of course, accompanied by the obligatory pictures of smokes stacks belching over a city and the melting of ice burgs.

If those were the pictures, then I really do believe that he read the magazine for the articles.

Just out of curiosity, how does the global warming, drum-circle set explain that there have been several distinct ice ages in our planet's history? Ice ages that have come and gone without evil American pollutants to cause them to begin or end?

There IS global warming!

Evidence:
* 12,000 years ago ice covered the northern and midwest states. It ain't nearly that cold these days.
* 1600 years ago it was warm enough in England for the Romans to grow grapes and make wine.
* And later, Greenland was warm enough to grow wheat and raise cattle. And that's definitely a warming trend!!!


Whoops -- it ain't nearly that warm in England any more - England is no longer known for growing grapes.
And it got so cold in Greenland that they couldn't raise wheat, and the colony died out.

So this is evidence for : There IS Global Cooling!!

Hmmm ... maybe those guys in the 50s and 60s that were worried about Global Cooling were right after all!

Most disturbing, however, is that the Little Ice Age of the Middle Ages (when there were no SUVs) was preceded by a period of "global warming" very much like we're seeing today.The global warming scam is not only the costliest scam in history, but it's distracting from what may really be happening--the precursor to an honest-to-god Ice Age.

In 1998, The Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM) issued a petition for signature by atmospheric scientists saying there is no scientific evidence indicating that greenhouse gases cause global warming.

Tom Deweese is just "sexing up" his article with comments like these. While Arthur Robinson, founder of OISM and signer of the petition is a chemist, he is not an "atmoshperic scientist". He did not issue the petition for signature by atmospheric scientists, not even just scientists.

A quick count of the number of signers whose last name starts with M shows 112 with MD after their name.

Fighting doom-mongering propaganda with BS is not the way to go, IMO.

I think you're probably correct. I'm almost finished reading a book titled The Little Ice Age, How Climate made History by Brian Fagan. This book supports your viewpoint.

The little ice age occurred from about 1300 AD to about 1850 AD.

IMHO the Little Ice Age is responsible for modern beer, because it was too cold to grow grapes and make wine in Northern Europe. Thank you, weather gods!

The reason for the Leftist media frenzy over global warming is because they know that with the current reduced supply/high prices there is going to be a world-wide demand for more, not less, hydrocarbon fuel production. The Greenie plan for destroying free market economies in order to save them through "less is more" conservation measures is being scuttled while various countries seek to secure as much fossil and other hydrocarbon fuels as possible. That's why the Left is conducting a full court press to spread the word that we're "on the eve of (environmental) destruction".

Any massive fix (with the ingredients that the global warmers want)...will destroy all of the economic markets in the civilized world. If you tell the airlines that they must cut 75 percent of the flights...you tell the truckers in the US to cut 30 percent of the truck haulers...you tell the energy companies in the UK to produce only 60 percent of the electricity the public needs...then there is only one outcome. Everyone should be aware of this each time a nut comes on NPR and preaches the "fix"...we must destroy our civilized world...to save the world. And the threat...very likely doesn't exist...which makes this a threat of non-existence...and we all start looking like fools.

In a way the global warming people remind me of the UFO people.

The global warmers say that the Earth is obviously heating- or cooling, depending on who you ask- and people who drive SUVs are to blame and America is evil and must fix it.

UFO people say they saw something in the sky and don't know what it was so it was probably an alien spaceship from Zeta Reticuli come to harvest your DNA.

Each seems to make pretty big leaps in their conclusions.
