Make sure you put the zip code for Batavia, IL on the zipcode form for Hastert's email... It's right on his website, and it's the only way he'll respond to (or maybe even read) your message.
A Speaker's staff should be willing to read e-mail from everywhere. But you might be right -- they might not.
Always better to call anyway. Always best to speak with a real person. It also allows you to react to whatever stupid thing they say in response.
Same with the RNC.
