My mom always let the dogs eat out of our bowls and dishes, but only after we were finished. She said what's the problem, they get sanitized in the dishwasher!
Now that they're down to one kittykat, it's not any sort of issue. Cat isn't even allowed to jump on tables which is a good thing.
