Al-Zaid seems to be a fairly common name in Saudi Arabia.

Zaid could be a place name or a tribal name. With Al-Zaid meaning, from that place or tribe.

Yeah, they get named the same all over the Arab world, from what I understand. Hence, Saddam Hussein al-Tikrit. 'cause he's from Tikrit.
